Hi,
I've just bought TomTom Navigator 6 Western Europe Edition for my O2 XDA Exec.
All installed fine, but my question relates to the maps.
On the DVD is has all the individual maps for Europe which vary in size and then one massive 900+MB Western Europe Map.
Now the size isn't a problem as I've installed the UK & WE Maps onto my 4Gb MMC and they work absolutely fine.
Does the Western Europe Map contain the same detail as the individual maps?
If so then I only really need to keep this one on there, although I'm not sure if it slows down somewhat because of the size, hence having the UK one on there as well.
I'm very impressed with TTN6 having recently upgraded from TTM5 on my Nokia 9500 and then for about 2 weeks using TTN5 on my O2 XDA Exec.
I'm just waiting on TT Support to change my device code on my Plus Page as I've changed it about 2 weeks ago, but TTN6 gave it a new device code over TTN5?
Is this normal?
Thanks in advance _________________ TomTom Camper & Caravan Edition (Go1005)

Individual country maps show rivers and other waterways but the big Europe map does not apparently. _________________ Everywhere and nowhere

Yep, I just looked on mine and rivers etc are there.
Maybe its just done to POI's etc.
i.e. there would be loads if using the complete WE Map, compared to say just the UK as you've got to cover all of Europe in POI's?
Impressive though! 8) _________________ TomTom Camper & Caravan Edition (Go1005)

If you are entering a place name or road name to navigate to the UK map will offer UK specific information, the full Europe map will offer everything in its database which does slow this function down slightly - not much of a problem though in use.
One other issue to consider is the number of custom POI's you can load is only 100, with country specific maps that equates to 100 categories per map with the Europe map loaded you can only have 100 POI loaded into this folder which can soon run out, depending on usage and what you want installed - Mike |
