hey guys i have been looking all over the net and im glad i hit this forum.there seems to be alot of people that know what there talking about compare to other forums..
see i ahve this probleme.
i purshased my garmin c330 in a flea market for a very cheep price.
now the bug is that it was a demo unit in a store....
i know,i know..
so know there like a screen saver that comes on afther about 10 minutes..
if i tap the screen once in a whyle it is ok,it does not load.
and the maps inside a nt version 7.i ordered a version 8
the unlock code says it is invalide.the probleme is that the guy gave me an activation code of another unit...
so it always says invalide code..man does this suck .
so i was wounderingthere has to be a master around here that could help me out solving the upgrade probleme and the sreen saver probleme..
i was thinking if i could find a software that could go in the unit a tweek it...
thx guys. |

If you post the serial number I might be able to generate a code from it. |

Sorry techker, I don't seem to be able to generate a code with that number.
Why not return it to the 'flea market' and get a refund? |

There should be an option to turn off the demo mode, but I'm not sure where it is on a c330 - can you check the manual?
As for the unlock code, what are you trying to do with the code (the codes are needed for very few functions, and getting a c330 up and running isn't one of them)? |

First of all, you can view all the foldes on the device by connecting it via the USB cable in the box.
Secondly, chances are the unlock code supplied with the unit is either for v7 (in which case it won't work with v8 maps), already registered to the original owner (in which case you'll have to buy a new v8 code), stolen or illegal.
Your best solution is to talk to Garmin and discuss your options directly, who are the only people who can help you out with a problematic unlock code. If you can show them you bought a v8 unit, they will provide a new code. If you can't (and if the unit had v7 maps built into it, I doubt you can) they will make you pay for v8 maps, like the rest of us.
Of course, v9 maps are already out, so you should look to get these installed instead, but you'll definitely have to pay to get them. |

First of all, I'm talking about the unlock code, not the serial number of the unit itself - the unlock code could have been used by someone else before, and hence can now not be used by you - as such, it's already been registered to someone else (as I suggested as one of the options). Do you have a yellow piece of paper with a long code on it? If not, you don't have an unlock code.
If you ordered 3 or 4 weeks ago, that may have been just before Garmin moved over to the v9 maps (which you won't get for free either way).
Have you received the DVD or not? If you've received it, and the unlock code (for that version) doesn't work with the software on the DVD, then speak to Garmin.
Garmin don't make demo units per se, so if you can't see the internal files when you connect to it using the USB cable in the box (note: not any old USB cable, you need the one out of the box) then you will need to send your unit back to Garmin as you won't be able to load any new maps on it, even with a valid unlock code.
If you can provide a step by step guide of what you are doing, and exactly what error message you are getting, then we may be able to help you, but right now, I'm not sure what exactly your problem is. |

when i plug it to my pc.the drvivers are godd every thing is ok but i can't access the unit.it does not show in the my computer panel.i cold only access it tru garmins software.

Okay, even if you had the unlock code on the yellow sticker, it would only provide you with a v7 unlock code - to installed v8 maps, or v9 maps, you will need to pay (Garmin do not normally provide map updates for free).
If you can access the c330 through Garmin's software, but not directly, then that is how that particular Garmin works. Even if you had direct access to the disk, you would not be able to magically make v8 or v9 maps work - they need an unlock file installing (which will happen automatically with the Garmin software once the PC has got a valid unlock code).
However, if the unit has not been previously registered with Garmin, if you ring Garmin they may provide you an unlock code for v8 for free as you have only just bought the unit. As I've already said, only Garmin can provide that though. |

your best option is to PHONE GARMIN - they are the only ones who will be able to sort this out for you.
