I have successfully installed the Real Voice camera warning sounds, which are a great improvement.
I would now like to use the bells and beeps sounds for other POIs. I am using data.chk file No.7690 with TT App 6.52.
I would be greatful if you could tell me how to restore these sounds? Ta. |

Restore your original data.chk.
The same answer applies to your duplicate post. |

Many thanks for your reply. I have replaced the original data.chk file that came with TomTom Go 300. The device just hangs on the logo screen, I cant even turn it off. I then used the reset, which brought me back to logo screed. How do I proceed now? Thanks |

Is it possible you have used the wrong data.chk?
Does the restored one correspond to TT App 6.52 or perhaps an earlier one?
Pre update? |

I am using data.chk file No. 7690 with 6.520.
I have only recently upgraded to 6.520 and this has caused two other problems.
1. I cannot change to night colours, a message comes up 'link night colours to headlights' which I cannot do.
2. When I start the car up the TT does not turn on as it did before installing 6.520.
I mention these other matters in the hope it sheds some light on the problem.
I have tried to reinstall V6.520 but that facility is not available on HOME.
Many thanks. |

Have you renamed the original data.chk file correctly? or could it be possibly named with a double extension so it would appear to the system as data.chk.chk - to check this look at the card in Windows Explorer but make sure that Tools/ Folder options View tab is set as follows:
Pay attention to the Hide extensions for known file types this MUST NOT be checked - Mike |

If you want to return to the original bells and whistles, you do not want to be using ANY numbered data.chk from here, but the one that comes with the download of v6.520 software from TomTom.

You can get the system files from HERE and install them manually (simple instructions text file in the download). I'd suggest you install them all, to make sure you have got the matching software and data.chk version.

Is that message a question? The link night colours to headlights only works when you have the permanent installation kit from TomTom. Can you not select "No" and then carry on?

This is a feature of the new software, I'm afraid |

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply.
I will use the data.chk file that came with 6.520, thanks.
I only mentioned the other matters by way of letting you know I had other problems that may have been part of a bigger problem.
I posted a seperate message in another forum to deal with those two matters. No reply received yet.
However your reply solved one ot the problems, about the device no longer switching on when car is started. A retrograde step I would say.
Regarding the Night Colours. The message flashes up on screen for a split second, hardly time to read it. There is no obvious way that I can see to activate night colours. I select 'Change Preferances' then select 'Use Night Colours' then the message flashes 'link to headlights'. The device stay on day colours.
Thanks |

Copied from Oldboy's answer in the other place you asked....
Quote: | There is an Option in Change Preferences ! Docking Preferences. Untick the Option.

Does that do it? |

Yes the night colours are working again, and the bells and whistles sounds have been restored.
Thanks very much to all concerned for your assistance.
Wishing everyone at PocketGPSWorld a Happy New Year :D |

What are the "three things" you have downloaded?
The download is a zipped up folder containing a number of files, the exact number of files contained is dependent upon the type of database you download and want on your unit. Unzip the download then drag (or use copy/ paste) to place the files in the map folder of your device. The actual files will be named pocketgps_uk_ to start with, the remaining file name is dependent upon the actual download you are trying to install, the files have an extension of .ov2 (the actual data) and .bmp (the icon).
Once the files are in the correct location go to change preferences/ manage POI/ Warn when near POI and configure your warnings for each category of camera installed - Mike |

QUESTION. Would the reason I cannot get the '.ogg - new way' real voices to work on a work friends new TT1 be because she has the Western Europe map installed as standard? I have successfully installed on my own TT1, and other friends TT1's the '.ogg - new way' but we all have the UK map only.
I cannot see why it wouldn't work with the Europe map, but after hours of fiddling with the warnings it will just not work.
Any opinions or advice greatly appreciated. Thnx.. |

The actual map name will not make a difference, so long as the ogg files are named correctly and placed in the map folder with the coresponding ov2 & bmp POI files then this will work. - Mike |
