How do I move the POI from my old map to my new map with re-entering the whole lot?
I seem to recall there is a file to copy but I can't remember which one
Thanks |

Hi symes51,
Connect your TomTom unit to your PC and look in the folder of the old map for:
The_POI_that_you_want.OV2
The_POI_that_you_want.BMP
The_POI_that_you_want.OGG (optional)
You’ll notice that whilst all of the above have three different extensions (.OV2, .BMP, and .OGG) the file name for all three is exactly the same.
The .OV2 file is the actual POI.
The .BMP file is the onscreen icon for the POI.
The .OGG file is the sound file for the POI, you may not have this file.
Copy the above files to your new map data folder.

Thanks,
I am trying to move the preloaded petrol station locations from my old TT5 to my new v6.6 map on my TT ONE. I believe its in the POI.dat file. The new database of petrol stations appear to be about 100m out!
I did look at the POI download page here but the petrol station database appears to be from 2003 and I was after something newer |

Hi symes51,
That’s correct – all built-in POIs are contained in the POI.DAT file. I don’t know whether copying your TTNav 5 POI.DAT to your TT ONE will work. Please back up everything before you start.
If you need POIs for fuel, then have a look at Richard’s (Oldboy’s) website here!

Unfortunately, ALL the in-built POIs are contained in that poi.dat file, so to get your old petrol stations back will mean losing the new versions of everything else.
There IS a way to completely re-build a poi.dat ( SEE HERE) but it seems that for copyright reasons you aren't supposed to keep SOME of it.
(All this assumes the Navigator and One versions are compatible anyway). |
