I have seen the press release for the European map updates. Does anyone know when there will be a release for the US maps? I called TomTom support and was told that this was going to happen soon. Ayn insight would be apprectiated. |

Really? I thought version 660 had been released already. It certainly is on the x10 devices that you can buy in the States. _________________ Lutz

Sorry that I wasn't clear. I meant US map updates for TTN 5. |

Depending on the device, if you use the online update don't you get TT6 free? Will this mean that your European maps are then incompatible? Apologies if I've missed the point. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

The program is always free. You always only buy the maps.
the new version of the v660 maps is now compatible with TTN5. You can choose which program you want to use, TTN5 or TTN6 . Clearly TTN5 for me! _________________ Lutz

Out of interest L, what makes you prefer TTN5 over 6? _________________ Tom Tom GO 720

I positively hate the UI changes they have done. As you may have seen from my reviews I do not believe 3D UI elements have any reasonable benefit on such a small screen. TTN5 was much more plain, and used less colors. _________________ Lutz

Hmmm, interesting point. I don't see too much difference although I do run an MDA-Pro variant with a 480 x 600 screen so maybe the differences are less noticable. The only time I find the fine text size an issue is when using hire cars such as a Renault Laguna or Ford Focus C-max with a heavily raked screen because the unit ends up sitting further away from me and I can't read the text. Still, switching off a few options in the toolbar setup makes the remanaining ones bigger again.
I do like the arrival time function for business journeys. To be honest I like it on any journey since it provides a challenge! But that's because I'm sad :-) _________________ Tom Tom GO 720
