Hi bbbill,
I don’t know about the current Range Rover, but a couple of months ago I took a Discovery 3 HSE with built-in SatNav on a test drive (both on road and off road) with the Land Rover Experience. The Discovery’s SatNav was not capable of using custom POIs.
According to BMW330, somebody has worked out how to incorporate the PocketGPSWorld camera database with the BMW SatNav DVD, see here for further information. however there are some limitations such as:
-no audible warnings
-only one type of POI on the screen at a time
-multiple cameras will show up as one
-need a fairly new map DVD (2006-1 or later) and MKIV navigation computer.
-might be complex to configure if you are not technical

Interestingly, the Peugeot / Citroen RT3 file format has equally been "worked out", and tools are available to add custom POIs to this SatNav unit too.
It equally has some limitations (although less)...
- no audible warnings
- need a fairly new map CD (2005/6 or later)
- might be complex to configure if you are not technical
Generally though, for speed cameras, you are best sticking with a device (portable SatNav or dedicated speed camera GPS unit) which has been designed with speed cameras in mind. |
