Hi Borg,
Can you be more specific please, i.e. which newsgroup request?
Thanks. _________________ Robert Brady |

Well i sent in a new site as the one in the POI was wrong, quite a bit wrong. I waited and waited then contacted you, to which you said. I will look at it.
I then months later ask on the newsgroup uk.rec.gps in your reply you said you would look into this and get back to me.
I'm still waiting. _________________ RAT RODZ UK |

It was I that responded on USENET. Sadly your email which I do recall receiving is on my Macbook which is away at Apple getting repaired hence why I have not responded.
If you could reply with the details of that email in this thread I will ask MaFt to investigate. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I sent in the 'new ' location of the incorrectly located speed camera near Aberystwyth police station. You had it further up the road towards town. You then said it would be verified buy someone else and thats the last I heard from you. several replies saying you would look into it but nothing.
I am not sure of the exact date of submission but it was around the time you started charging for the POI and asking people to add to it to gain free use of the POIs.
January or February it would have been _________________ RAT RODZ UK |

Its not a "gremlin"...
Any details you send in have to be confirmed by another user sending in the same data, before it will be included in the database.
This point is debated ALL OVER this forum, as the criteria for getting frre membership is that you have to be the first to submit the report. |

And if you live in a rural location where there is a good chance no one else on the forum lives ? _________________ RAT RODZ UK |

How much I hate the Tom Tom bleeps looks like I will be relying on them for the warnings. Anyone that drives to Taunton & drives down Compass Hill by the traffic lights, Wellington Road please report it to Pocket GPS
Thanks |

Sorry, I didn't make the rules! When the database was free it wasn't a problem. |

Sorry, I didn't make the rules! When the database was free it wasn't a problem. | I THINK what Andy means is that when the database was free, complaints about cameras still not updated were not a problem. It seems that some folk (not necessarily those in this particular post) find it hard to pay a small cost for membership of this site and access to this great database.
What should also be remembered is that the first submission is not necessarily the "first submission".
Firstly, there's nearly always some other person who's done it before you.
Secondly, some submissions are apparently a long way adrift of the correct location. I'm not saying that's the case in this instance, just bringing a little more into the equation.
In either case, both first and confirmation submissions need to be very close, so often it takes far more than two submissions to get an acceptable location.
Well, that's what I've come to understand. 8O
There is supposed to be a PGPSW Team meeting today including on the agenda the confirmation issue. I'll be switching on bright and early tomorrow morning to see if there's an announcement. I can't see an Emoticon for "Fingers crossed", but if I could, it'd be here now.
I'm afraid I can't see Compass Hill, Taunton as a road name on my maps. Maybe you could get me a bit closer than Wellington Road? _________________ Dennis

No, what I meant was that as there was no financial incentive in making a false submission, people were trusted more, and there was no need to go through the complex, time-consuming, confirmation process. |

I was a regular user of the POI and I did subscribe after and thought the price was very fair, well worth not getting a NIP, so my reasons for complaint are not fiscal at all. Just to clear the air. _________________ RAT RODZ UK |
