i done a google search for backup issues on PDA's running TT6 - found 1 or 2 places that are having similar issues.

basically: if i install and run TT6 on my PDA, exit and then try and do a full backup to SD card, it will fail on the "navigator.exe" file. every single time.

i never had an issue with TT5 - always backed up perfectly, it's just an issue with the latest TT6 .exe file.

i'm running an acer N35.

also, 2 other questions:
1) the main reason im trying to get backup working is that TT seems to store the 'favorites' in ROM memory. so if the battery goes completely flat, i loose my contacts. same as if i have todo a hardreset for whatever reason, i'll loose my favorites. if there is a way to backup my 'favorites' without doing a full backup of the PDA, then that would be great.
2) is the n35 powerful enough to hand tt6? it just seems to take a while to update the screen. not so much an issue on the motorway etc, but more around town with twisty and lots of corners. i found it can take around 200-300yards before it updates my location properly.
its not a signal issue. using an external high-gain ariel that always reports full bars in TT.

I don't know about the other questions you raised, but in TT5 the Favourites were store in the Map Folder in a File called Map_Name.cfg

In TT6 it stored in a File called MapSettings.cfg, also in the Map Folder.

well, that worked. thanks Smile

it's a long-term backup fix till TT sort out the full PDA backup issue. obviously a bug in TT6 or something cuz it was fine with TT5.

The Aver N35 has a 266MHz Processor: I believe the recommended minimum is about 350MHz.

350mhz+ eh? that could very well explain why it's slow to update!! never thought about processor speed really.

I've got TT 6.010 on my N35 and have no problems backing up/restoring to the SD card or with the PC using Activesync.

The Tomtom website says that the N35 is supported with TT6
