Hi all,
I've just got my Mio 710, nice little beasty but the "prepare to xxxx" was driving me absolutely nuts!
So after a lot of digging around I've managed to successfully (I think!) edit the commands_yd.csv file.
No more "Prepare to xxx" prompts.
When you enter a new road (or a new section if you like), it does not tell you about the next manouvre, I've left the "Drive for xxx miles" in if the distance is over 1000 yards though.
The roundabout and junction prompts occur at 200yds, with a follow up at 50yds.
Highway now says Motorway.
"Turn Slightly Left/Right" now says "Bear Left/Right" (well, it might, I haven't found a "slightly left/right" to test it yet!!)
I have to say there definitely is something wierd with either the format of the CSV files, or the way the ZIP files are constructed.
MioMap must have black screened on me hundreds of times while playing round, even *just* removing the "comments" caused it to do this, so I suspect there's more to these "comments", as some of them don't seem to be comments at all! (I know the gent from iGo has said they are comments though!)
Anyway, I'm going to test it for a few days and then make it available for others.
I also want to change the "route recalculation" OGG audio file to "DOH!!", I did it but got the black screen again, and then didn't, and then did (with minor changes to the CSV file... grrr) |

Anyway, I've been testing if for a couple of days now and its worked ok.
I've had a couple of lockups (not when it would be speaking so I think they're due to other bugs in the software and not my dodgy file)
I've got more improvements in mind that I'm going to try to make, but for now;
... I can't find anyway of attaching the file to these posts ??? so you can download it from here:-
http://www.ukrm.co.uk/downloads/v_eng_uk_f1.zip
Further improvements I want to make are:-
Replace some of the .OGG files : I can't just replace these with ordinary OGG files, I'm working to find out what iGo have done to them.
Further improvements to the turn/roundabout warnings, make the "just before manouvre" warning more abrupt if its already told you the one at 200yds : coming up against the black screen of death if I edit the CSV file too much at the mo, still working on finding out why.
Make the warnings speed sensitive, I know the X variable in these CSV file relates to number of turns to go, is there a variable that I can use that holds the current speed? On the motorway (or anywhere you could do 70MPH), 200yds passes very quickly and I'd like a 400yd warning rather than 200yds, something like 50yds doing 0 to 20mph, 100 yds doing 21 to 30mph, 200 yds doing 31 to 50mph, 300 yds 51 to 60mph, 400yds 61mph+.
All fun and games :D
Another thing is, has anyone tried switching the GPS receiver to SiRF mode, or upping the baud rate from 4800BPS? I see that in the config file of MioNav its set to NMEA mode and 4800BPS, which is more limited than SiRF mode, and a slow baud rate. |

Some of what you are trying to do has already been covered in the IGO software forum - might be worth a look there as they were discussing the topic with an IGO employee. The posts from "drogg" have been especially useful for me in modifing the female voice. |

Don't know if this helps or is a complete red herring. I played some of the Phillipa ogg files through a PC player. Now it *might* be my player, but every one seemed to repeat the last syllable. |

Just reloading my system but can't get my Mio to see the female voice. I've copied the female voice zip file to the Voice folder but can't get it to show in Guidance Language section. Can someone remind me how? Thanks. _________________ Reg |

Hi rronaldson.
You've done everything right so far.
All I can think of is to check the name of the file.
It should be v_eng_uk_f1

Thanks both. Seems to be OK now. I did try a soft reset and that may have done the trick. _________________ Reg |
