|
|
My old One's had so many different map cards in it I think the flash memory on the hard drive (where it stores the activation code from original SD card maps to enable you to then use back-up cards without needing to re-activate each time) is full up.
I've tried "reset factory settings" but this just clears time/settings etc.
Does any expert out there know if there's a way to clean up this flash drive? |

Cheers Elder but isn't that the TT clear flash tool that clears too many .mac files off the SD card which then stopped 510/710's continually asking for Activation Codes?
What I think I need is something that stops the hardware writing loads of .mds files to the SD card. |

It will wipe the internal flash memory. The latest firmware versions write the *.mac files both in the internal memory and on the SD card. When you insert a new card, all the *.mac files get copied to the SD card. There are no other tools to clear the internal memory. |

OK, thanks Elder.
I've normally just run the flash tool on the SD card through a card reader so only cleaned the SD card. Will try it direct on the unit (once I get it back from my mate next week).
Will keep you posted. |

As a matter of fact I was wrong - apparently there is another application which runs directly on the unit and not on your PC. |

Try the one from TT's website first, if it doesn't work you know where to find me ;-) |

No joy running the fix even with the SD card in the unit. Still get loads of .mds & .mac files back on once the SD card's reinserted.
Any other ways round this? Plan B? |

Just bringing this back to the top.
Anyone got ANY ideas at all how to clear the hard drives flash memory of .mds & .mac files? |

cheers Eldar.
Sort of worked in as much as all i got when unit turned on again was white screen.
then deleted the new "system" file, renamed "system.app" back to "system" and reinserted SD card in unit.
Now fires up again OK and only back-loaded 4 .mac files but still back-loade the 21 .mds files!
So maybe just by removing a few (most of) the .mac files it's cleared it. Will let you know. |
