without a doubt the v1 is superior. i have a v1 with w euro maps installed, but wanted to give that to my daughter and i purchased a new v2 europe. definate corners have ben cut to get the price down (i paid £225 from dixons on line).
windscreen mount is sooo flimsy. doesn't stick out far enough either so kept knocking the unit on the windscreen when removing or placing in mount. on / off switch is slightly recessed so harder with stubby fingers to turn on or off. touch screen seems less sensitive.
slightly smaller size and weight really not noticeable. and getting the voice warnings for the camera database is a real mission due to new software not accepting older style voice files. (many thanks to mike alder for all his help in sorting that out for me, what a gent he is).
the upshot is, i've given my daughter the new v2 and i have kept the v1, and you know what, i couldn't be happier!!!
just seen the v1 on line for £150 ish - bargain!! grab it - and save your money on the v2. |

Although I have never used the original TT One I know that it was a great development by Tomtom.
I think the only major reason to get the TT V2 would be the more up to date maps although at some point, the original wil get updated. Of course, V2 has ireland (n and s) too.
I personally think the V2 is better looking than the original but thats just my taste.

Never seen or used the One V1 but I`ve just bought the V2 to replace my Dell Axim pda and have no problem with it. It`s nice and compact, maps work great, speed cameras went on a breeze, even my own POI`s work perfectly. So far can`t fault it at all. The only problem I had was with the latest version of Tomtom Home. It crashed my PC, removed all traces of Home in Safe Mode (eventually) and now its working fine. But obviously that was nothing to do with the One. |
