On a recent return trip to Cornwall my Navman 720 quite often warned me of cameras that were no longer there,as I had only the day before installed the latest update I was surprised that there were so many, but there again what does happen when all the temp cameras are removed from road works, are we going to end up with hundreds of non existant cameras on our database so that instead of hearing instructions for our journey all we will here is warnings for cameras which happened quite frequently on my trip.Do cameras get removed from the database once the dreaded road works are finished, I think not. |

You can request removal of cameras on the Speedcams page. _________________ Lutz

I can confirm that fixed cameras in road works ARE (at least sometimes) deleted.
Reporting such a deletion (before the database became chargeable) earned me my membership. |

Just a thought...... have you got the mobile POI's installed as well?
This could give the impression of missing cameras.... _________________ Thanks,

Yes they do get removed. Sometimes quick as a flash, sometimes ages. Depends on how long it takes to be confirmed. If you are able to recall and identify the cameras concerned, submit the removals and, at the very least, you may be the confirming submitter and save the rest of us getting the whistles and hooters as we pass by. You MIGHT even be the first to report their absence and win yourself a free lifetime membership. To the best of my knowledge, members' reports are very useful, so do it whenever you can - many of the rest of us do so and we all benefit in the long run. _________________ Dennis

Thanks for all your replies and it's good to know that people take the trouble to get absent cameras deleted,as most of the cameras that were falsely given on my journey were on the A30 I was unable to take a location but will try to do so in future. |
