manual setup of gps???

I have a copy of route66 but once installed it will not see my internal gps on my I-Mate PDA-N. Is it possible to manually set up the gps config as I couldn't find how to do this, Or can is it possible to use a bluetooth gps instead??

Andrew, This set-up should simply work, it does on my PDA-n and I haven't done anything special, simply installed the software and it found the GPS straight away, a couple of further questions though:
Is there any other GPS related software on the PDA?
When you start Route 66 does the Amber LED flash (its next to the on/ off button) - Mike

Hi Mike

Firstly am not new to ppc gps. just to pda-n Smile

Have tried several times to install and use but simply will not see interal gps(bottom right it states NO GPS!) But it will see my Bluetooth gps with out any problems. I know the GPS is working as Memory map and TT6(theres a list that can go on) can all see and use internal gps with out any problems what so ever, As to your question regarding light yep it flashes happily when 66 is running. Any Ideas??

Andrew, I am just re-loading the application to the card to have a play as its while since I last used it! you say Memory Map works with it? - can you start that application and go to Menu/ GPS/ Set-up and what is listed in the top dropdown box? is it NMEA or SiRF? - Mike

Always set to nmea and on com4 9600.Never change it on less using gpsgate then will as need gps sharing.. TT6 is working fine. so cant see why 66 won't.

Strange, I have just tried using Route 66 on the PDA-n with the GPS set to SiRF mode and I get a warning that the software cannot find the GPS device, if I switch to NMEA mode and run up Route 66 it works fine. When you run up Route 66 try tapping the No GPS box and see what data is there - is anything listed at all - is the clock incrementing? - Mike

If the clock is incrementing then take it outside with a clear view of the sky for a while for it to acheive a position fix. I have found that removing the device from the supplied leather case speeds this process up somewhat - Mike

Then take the device outside and wait for a position fix - if its not been used for a while this could take upto 30 mins, also make sure it has a good view of the sky, take it out of the case as this will hinder reception - Mike

Still no joy. clocks ticking but no indication that it is actually using gps.. Any further ideas??

Glad to hear it, the first fix can take some time - next you might want to set-up the speed cameras on Route 66 to get more from the device, there are some instructions on the site I posted a while ago.
In use I found Route 66 quite good, and combined with tne excellent screen clarity of the pda-n it made a great combination, having re-loaded it I will use it in the morning as a refresher - Mike
