Well there is a dedicated PC Nav app called InfoMap Navigator which is not bad at all, we've reviewed it here. _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's been about for a while now and has gone through various releases and upgrades. Given it can navigate to a UK PostCode It's superb value and I have no idea why it is has received such little coverage!
I'm not sure that you can store addresses directly within InfoMap itself but given you'll be running this on a laptop it would be a simple process to store addresses elsewhere and then just enter the Post Code as your destination _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Justspeed, I'd be interested to understand which earlier version of CoPilot Laptop you've been using, as this is the first version released in Europe :|
It provides everything that CoPilot Live PPC4 offers (live tracking, detailed turn-by-tuyrn directions, borderless routing etc) ... on a laptop.
I believe that there'll be a comprehensive review up on this site shortly ...
As for waste of time, I trust you were you using a GPS receiver? |

I must admit the thought of having a laptop on your dashboard for navigating is a bit disconcerting. |

It has the first 4 or 5 digits, but not the entire postcode. So you can input WC1A 2 for example. It does however have very comprehensive street address data, and POIs that include Speed Camera locations. If by chance the address isn't there, you can pick a stop from the map. Also has route optimisation (put in 10 stops and it will work out the best route to take between them all) |

There is a program on the continent from www.alturion.com and you can buy add on European maps that include the UK. It also works on the pocket pc.
I have played with it on a friends laptop in a dutch version with UK map(not with live GPS) but not seen it on a handheld and the few routes I tried to get it to navigate it took some very odd turns such as leaving the A11 and going through Newmarket to get to Thetford. It has waypoints a bit like AutoRoute but these again were stops for zero minutes. It could have been the way it was configured on the laptop.
I don't think you can buy it in the UK but it is available from the manufacturers online but by the time you have converted it for the UK with add on maps it seems very expensive. |
