I have a Go300 with:
App 5.000 OS: 723
GPS v1.21 Boot 2.09
GB map v562
Does anybody know if the latest update will work Ok with this map?
Also has a new GB map been released recently?
I couldn't find the answer. |

I've been emailing TomTom on and off for nearly a year now, asking for info on map updates etc. Been wasting my time I think.
Can anyone tell me the "state of play" with my unit?
And if there is anything I can do to improve / update it?
I purchased the unit on 4th August 2005
Thanks, Richard |
Boy, am I confused!
Can anyone throw any light on the staus of my unit (above) ?
If I purchase this 'Western_Euorope' map, http://www.tomtom.com/plus/services/mds.php how do I know if it's any better than the one I already have? The TT site doesn't say what version it is? Or is that the wrong download for Western_Europe for a GO 700? 1.9Gb seems a bit big when my GO 700 says it has 65Mb memory!
Like I said... "confused"!
Regards Richard |

What can be said for certain:
1 ) You have a v5 map
2 ) Maps being supplied now are v6 and have been since the launch of the x10 series.
3 ) TomTom say there is an upgrade programme imminent, so buying a map now is not a great idea (but they have been promising that upgrade for months now).
There will have been improvements since v5, but the maps will never be fully up to date. If there is an area you are particularily interested in, post details here to see what people with the newer maps can tell you. You can then decide whether it is worth buying a new map.
Finally don't confuse storage space on your hard drive (or SD card on other models) with free RAM memory. The map is stored on the storage medium, the memory is used by the unit while it is working. |

Thanks for the reply Andy!
I now understand the memory issue (Ram v Non Volatile Storage)
And I will wait (without holding my breath apparently!) for a map upgrade

Sorry to be a pain but.............
I have installed tomtom home and plugged in my 300.
It tells me that update 6.54 is available but I have been told that I need 6.15 to be compatable with my map.
How do I go about upgrading to 6.15 as opposed to 6.54? |

Are you sure it was 6.54? It not one I've heard mentioned before.
If you want to use 6.15, there's a Zip File on my Webspace. Just copy the Unzipped Files to the Root of the SD Card.;) _________________ Richard

It was 6.5? something.
Now got 6.15 from your site, just need a bigger card to put it on now.
Thank you very much :D |
