Yet again my copy of Co Pilot live (Pocket PC 6.1.1.68 is having problems with speed cameras.
The battery on my IPaq fully discharged, so I had to re-install, and re-licence Co Pilot - so far so good.
I loaded the October GPSWorld Safety camera files in the 'new' way by renaming the two files safetycamer.ov2 and safetycamera.bmp and putting them into the SAVE directory.
Co Pilot starts and shows it's incorporating the update.
However no Camera notification is given.
I am constantly confused by the poor advice ALK give for this. I have the new style Safety Alerts enabled - but that doesn't work. I also tried to go into POI alerts and enable that and then go into the CUSTOM area and enable Safetycamera (whih DOES appear there), yet when I hit OK and come out of that screen and go back in safetycamera alerts in Custom is never ticked.
I did read somewhere about clearing out old POI files from the SAVE directory. Is this likely to help? if so which files should I delete?
Any help apreciated.
If ONLY ALK woudl fix this poor implementation of Safety alerting.
Any help appreciated
Regards

Before you start, you should delete all the ao..... files from the Save folder
At the end of the process, a new set of ao..... files will be created

Since applying 6.0.1.68, I've never seen a camera warning.
Tried all sorts of methods of uploading the camera database, but all have failed.
Worse than that, I can't get camera warnings by the old method either.
My patience is running thin and a "Boxed CoPilot 6 with GPS receiver" ebay ad is beckoning.......
Keep your eye on Trafcam - apparently WM5 can handle multiple ports to the GPS receiver, meaning Trafcam can sit behind CP6 and just pop up when required. Trafcam are currently working on a WM5 release - I used to have it with my Ipaq and CP5 - very simple and VERY reliable. |

Thanks - deleting those files fixed the problem.
I did try the full screen alters which worked anf I noticed now reads out the speed of the camer - ie GATSO 1435@ but then instead of (say) 40 it will say @4 or @5 instead of @50
Its a shame ALK can get this bit right!
I wonder if any more patches for version 6 will be available or they will just go with version 7 |
