I've just bought D6 and installed it on my Acer N35. All seems to be working OK and I'm getting used to the new look etc. One thing that bugged me was losing all my favourites. I've figured out how to recover them now. It's pretty simple as it happens. Assuming you've installed D6 over the top of D3, just find the old location, \\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Favourites then copy the .DAT & .BMP for the lists you want to keep, then paste them into \\Destinator Apps\Destinator\UserData\Favourites and job done.
I also hacked \\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Voice\All\DestinatorVoiceManeuvers.inf to do away with the "at the roundabout' and replaced it with just "roundabout" It's a simple FIND/REPLACE, look for 'at_the_round' and replace it with 'roundabout' I prefer it anyway!
FWIW, when I first ran D6 I didn't much like it, couldn't find anything, all different etc. Tried it going home last night and still wasn't sure, tried again coming to work this morning and already I'm used to the new look etc. Much better! |

Please follow the below procedures for n35 image flash.
1.Make sure you have a SD card that can be detected by n35. The SD cards that can be detected are: (1) Apacer 128/256/512MB (2) Toshiba 256MB (3) SanDisk 64/512MB
2.Copy all the OS image files to the SD card’s root directory.
3.Switch the hard reset switch to the left, and insert the SD card.
4.Make sure the AC is applied to n35.
5.Press and hold the power button, then switch the hard reset switch to the right.
6.The LCD screen will become all white. Release the power button after 5 seconds.
7.Wait for an orange progress bar to appear. (It might take about 3 minutes).
8.n35 will reboot itself when flash is done.
Note: if you fail to have an orange progress bar when flash, please make sure you have correctly copied all the necessary image files, and then repeat from step 3. _________________ D7

Ah, does this mean 1gb cards aren't supported?
What 1gb card should I choose? |

You have to try it.
The card should be freshly formated with Fat16.
If the PDA does not recognize the SD-Card the flashing process will not start. _________________ D7

This the thing I did to make the update working.
You don't have to put AC to your PDA, just make sure that battery is full loaded.
1. Format the card with FAT, not FAT32.
2. Unzip the file [n35_SE_v2.10.12_WWE_SD.rar] and then open the folder and move all the files to empty SD card.
3. Inserd SD card, while PDA is still "open", so that we know Acer has approved the card!
4. Now turn off Acer, and hard reset Acer N35 (move knob to the left).
5. Hold the power button, and move the hard reset knob to the left
6. aproximatly count 4 sec. and release the power button, when the screen is white.
7. The screen will say [DOWNLOAD IMG] + [Eboot 6.2] and then after ~10 sec. the Red bar will appear.
8. This loading will take about 4 min. Just wait when the bar doesn't run anymore.
9. The device will reboot automatically after it has completed flashing.
Acer's own instuctions really sucks!
Does anybody know what the rest of those files are, in Acer's site? |

I've just has my N35 back from repair at Acer, and when it came back, it was back to the old version of Windows Mobile. I've flashed the unit before with no problems, but now it won't flash the new version of Windows on. I put the bootloader on, and got the 'Complete' message, then flashed the new version of windows on. I get the progress bar going to 100%, but I never get the completed message. I've left it overnight, but it doesn't seem to want to work! It now won't switch on, so it's useless! Anyone got any ideas before I get in touch with Acer? |

In our German forum someone could put his n35 back to life by re-flashing the boot loader and remove the sd-card during the process.
After this operation he could flash the old wm2003 rom and from this stage upgrade to the new boot loader and finally wm2003se.
Try at own risk. _________________ D7

When you say removing the SD card, is this when the progress bar is moving, or after the completed message comes up? |

Thanks The Rock. I haven't yet had a chance to try this but I'd like to clarify what I need to do before I do it. So I start the flash using the bootloader image, and then remove the card whilst it is in progress. What do I do then? Do I reboot the unit and restart the flash process again with the old version of Windows, or leave the unit running and insert the card without rebooting? Also, do you know which is the old windows image on the Acer FTP site? I've downloaded the one that I think it is, but I'm not too sure. |
