|
|
I have a Garmin nuvi 310 and I have downloaded the speed cameras using POI Loader - I can see the files on my Nuvi and the SD card but when I go past locations where there are speed cameras (gatsos) my nuvi is not alerting me (I have the alert tone switched on on the unit) can you help please? |

A couple of things.
Firstly, have you added any more POIs since then - if so, did you reload all POIs, as each time you upload POIs it deletes all previously uploaded POIs.
If you haven't, and you are using the standard POI Loader file from here with POI Loader (ie not using Ash's utility) then you will only get alerted if you drive past a camera over the speed limit for that camera... |

Um! dont think so, I always get a warning when approaching a camera and then if I am going over the limit it will keep on bonging till I bring my speed down to that limit or below.

Do you also get an icon on the screen, or just a warning in the top title bar?
Also, do you use POI Loader or Ash's utility? |

To what!!! we can only answer on the information we have been given, another question has been asked to get this further info which as yet hasnt been supplied, also there are plenty of instructions on here on how to get the speedcams and how to install them. We are also here to help if required but as always we need the proper information, it helps.

The POI loader should [depending on your unit and setup] give you:-
a permanent visual indication of the exact limit, at certain zoom levels
a proximity warning [distance dependent on speed limit]
an over speed warning [if you are overspeed]
These I get with the default POI loader [Express] settings and the 'zonned' database! So these are facilities within the POI loader and the relevant database. |

I have a screenshot of the visual warning for my posting above.
Can anyone help me to insert it in this thread? |

I think the issue of warnings on the device is also affected by the version of software you have loaded to the device, I had someone only yesterday gave me a 310 to look at that was bonging all the time even though you were not speeding, a software update to the latest version fixed the problem. If you have still to update your unit (just because it is new off the self does not mean it is loaded with the most upto date software), I recommend this course of action first - Mike |

Thanks to Mike's PM, I'm trying my first Image Insertion.
Please view it in the context:-

Will it work??? |

strumble - looks like the image failed. However, I've now moved from Ash's utility to just using POI Loader with the zoned speed camera file, and see what you mean about still getting both distance and overspeed alerts. Plus, you still get the icon on the screen, and with the zoned file the icon is speed specific.
Very very nice! |

Hi all, which speedcam file did you two use then? have just checked the dropdown box under garmin and of course there is the normal poi loader for the i3, nuvi and underneath that there is one for zoned, did you use that one?
I thought we could only use the poiloader files.
Thanks for any info,

How about this screenshot of the Garmin 'zonned' database?
They only appear at certain zoom levels with me! [800ft and below]
The screenshot is of Cardiff M4 - Castell Coch Roundabout area.
I can also see the other POI loaded with the Garmin POI loader ie Tesco.

Bore da / Good morning
Sorry I was so keyed up getting the screenshot in!!!!
I did answer your question indirectly, 'zonned' database 24 files within it.
This file gives far more detail as you can see from the sceenshot! |
