Excellent!
I've now added to Lisa's .ogg files for the one that are missing and using the AT&T Text to speech facilities for the voice and using Audacity to convert to .ogg I've even got Witherspoons pubs warnings set!
Everything works perfectly

To follow up on Furry Freds post.
Go to http://www.naturalvoices.att.com/demos/index.html
Choose language & voice.
Enter text for conversion to speech (ie Please be aware that there is a "Little Chef" ahead).
Hit "Go" button.
Adjust the text if required.
Save as Source.
Import into Audacity.
Trim as required
Export as *.ogg file.
Then rename as appropriate to match ov2 & bmp files
Is this info worth a free speed camera subscription ?

Anyone had any joy with a tomtom ONE v1 running version 5.42 - its my dada's unit and I don't want to balls it up for him - he's currently got the data.chk version running fine.
as for renaming the ogg files - TRY DOS - open a dos window and use the REName command - takes seconds if you know how to do it.
funny how Tomtom must have only discovered this by accident..... _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

Hi
Just tried this on the tom tom rider Version 6.150 and still get the old warnings.
tried removing the warnings and resetting the device then went back to set the warnings and i still get the bell bugle etc.
when i have a look all the ogg files are grouped with the corresponding ov2 file and all are renamed correctly
but still no joy |

Well I've got some VERY good news...
The ogg files method definitely works with v5.440 software on a Go300 too! |

I'm surprised you didn't get it working but you could just replace the data.chk file instead.
There is a modified data.chk file for the TT rider here, and it does work cos I tried it on my mate's:

Mick, when you put the ogg files into the map folder they have to be identicle in filename to the coresponding bmp and ov2 file.
With the files in place start the unit and go to Change Preferences/ Manage POI/ Warn when near POI and reselect each of the camera POI's in turn.
While doing this answer No to the "Remove POI" question, and the unit should simply ask for a distance and "Warn only if POI on Route" it should not ask you to select a voice/ warning noise? - can you re-try this and let us know the outcome, I cannot try this on a rider as I don't have the hardware - Mike |

the link to the site for the text to speech is spot on, you can go to town with the voice alerts - superb :D |

lbendlin wrote: | TomTom have made us aware of a new way to use custom POI warnings in TomTom 6 versions. This will remove the need for manipulating the data.chk file, and is much more flexible.
Here's what you need to do:
For each of your OV2 files, create a warning sound in OGG format with exactly the same name. So if you have a BP.ov2 file, create a BP.ogg fileand place it in the same map folder. (We recommend 22050 Hz sampling rate but it should not matter)
When you restart TomTom, the new sound will automatically be used. Cool, ah? (you may have to re-set the warning distance for each POI category you changed)

I have tried installing the ogg files as you described but without succsess. Would know how to install on the SPV M2000 ppc. Do I need to install into the Navigator folder or only the GB map on the SD card.

Mike
thanks for the reply yes the ogg files are the same name just the file extension is different.
when i go to preferences warn when near poi there is no warning against the poi's
then when i select the poi it asks for the distance then asks to select a warning sound
and all i have is the bell/ beep etc
if i look inside the map folder in list view all the ogg files are arranged with the corrosponding bmp and ov2 files.
tried this with both the 22050hz and the 16000hz files
and no luck with either. |
