I have a nokia 3230 smartphone with tomtom mobile5 installed.
Without using bluetooth, how can I get tomtom to work with any gps receiver using only a cable?
Is this possible?
Thanks,

just to give a bit more info - I have a dku-2 cable from the nokia to USB (male)
my question would be: What gps device would connect to the USB connection coming off the smartphone?
I've had a look around and there are some ps/2 and USB gps devices that could be connected to the USB end with a USB converter - but with all these connections, would the device firstly be able to talk to the smartphone and secondly, would it work with the tomtom mobile5 software or do you have to use a tomtom receiver with the tomtom software?
Any help greatly appreciated.

This simply will not work the phone isn't capable of acting as a USB controller, you will have to use a bluetooth gps unit, is TomTom Mobile available without the required BT GPS unit? If so where did you get the software from - Mike |

I have the bluetooth receiver and the tomtom mobile5 software.
however, my daughter has epilepsy and for some reason she goes into siezure if she is exposed to bluetooth signals for an extended period of time so that's the reason I can't use it.
If I could utilise my current setup to act in a non-wireless and non bluetooth way then that would be great.
My question remains of the connectivity issue using the nokia dk2 to usb cable. Can this be connected to a GPS device? if so which one?
Thanks

Due to the medical requirements I can only suggest you switch the phone to a PDA based Phone device and one that will support a serial wired connection for the GPS. To be honest there is very little else you can do - Mike |

| It is definitely the Bluetooth radio signals which trigger the seizure, and not the flashing blue light, that seems to be fitted to every Bluetooth device? _________________ Jock

My best suggestion is a PDA with integrated GPS such as the Mio A701. |

not the blue light -
beleive me - it's the bluetooth - there are numerous documented occurences of it. |
