how do i know that my sat nav is picking up speed camara's, is there anytthing i need to check? or will it just load everything in itself?

Welcome to the forum, what device are you using? - then we might be able to assist further by giving you additional information to check the cameras are actually installed on the device - Mike

If you're on an i3, you can go to 'Where to?' and select custom points, and they should be in there.
