My C710 does not speak the street names - assuming this is what you mean. Had mine for couple of months and have not found the need for this feature. |

I must confess i am coming to the same conclusion. Basically I have a need for an all in one package for UK driving with the odd trip abroad. Need for routing around traffic problems which I know the 710 does through TMC but if I choose to ignore I presume I just carry on my journey on the old route and turn TMC off?
This is going to replace my HP2210/CoPilot 5 (which I find excellant) and a superb Fortuna BT receiver. All good stuff but I am getting irritated by all the boxes/cables/setting up. Mind you CP5 has an excellant program for trip planning on the PC which I shall miss. However, the "all in one" function of the 710 outweighs that.
One simple question, can you force the 710 to take a diff route, a detour I guess to the one given by touch screen waypoints ? _________________ TomTom 720

Hi topgazza.
I have to say I've had the Garmin nuvi 360 and the TT910 both with text to speech and thought I would miss it by going for the Mio.
Boy how I was wrong. If anything I'm glad it hasn't got it.
You soon get fed up of listening to pronunciations that are 'not quite what you're used to' in your local dialect.
I'd hate to think how irritating that must have been in somewhere like Wales. (No offence Dil :D ).
This thing blows the pair of them out of the water.
In answer to your question, you can use the 'avoid' feature and either avoid a particular road or route around a particular road. It gives you 3 options as to how many miles you're prepared to go round somewhere (choices of 2, 10 or 30 miles).
Never had to use it myself because most of the routes seem pretty sensible.

Thats fine. Its just when you hear of an accident on, say, Junc 27 M25 clockwise and you want to come off at J26 and find an A road route. So thats sounds fine. Still torn between the 510 and 710. Just telling Dil that the 510E (with full euro maps on DVD) is £207 from Hantec and the 710 is £306 delivered. Pretty damn cheap for both and I have a 1 & 2gb SD card already to use for the maps.
I like the idea of TMC integrated with the unit however. Only provided you can overide it should you choose. Otherwise the 510 does what I need and I can pay £29, if I wnated, for a years trafficmaster licence for my Trafficmaster unit I own. Choices, choices.
£100 extra for convienience ? _________________ TomTom 720

I bought a C510E and then got a 2Gb SD card from Amazon for £14, and a soft padded case from Jessop's for about £6.
I have installed all the European maps on the card .

Hi Peasemold!
I have a mio C510
I'm interested in this: " I have installed all the European maps on the card "
How did you make the C510 miomap accepts the European maps?
Or are you using the C510 with iGO?
Thanks in advance!
Bye
