The new TT1 show the max speeds of some roads.

Which roads exactly?

Based on limited experience (45mins trip to work) it seems to be random. Less than half of the roads I've been on have it. Also I've seen at least one mistake (road marked as 30 when it was in fact 60).

...and often wrong anyway.

...and usually only where its obvious to anyone with eyes what the limit is.

...and I hate that it flashes red when I do more than 5mph over the limit.

Please TomTom take this junk out of the code and deliver something more useful.

Sometimes it can be stunningly accurate - switching in realtime as you pass the speed limit markers or when an NSL road turns into a dual carriageway.

Other times it can be horrendously wrong... telling you the limit is 60 in a 30 (that kind of speeding could easily get you banned).

It is useful if you're in an unfamiliar area and unsure of the limit on a badly signed stretch of road. Beyond that there's little point in it.

Your last sentence directly contradicts the one before it.

e.g. if you are in an area where its badly signed and you arent sure, would it be 'useful' to rely on the TT's indication it was 60?

It's just another piece of data. In the absence of any obvious road signs you have to make a judgement somehow... I tend to assume 30 anyway in those situations.

Exactly, so the TT's speed feature seems pointless.

If is is so erroneous remove it.
