I have tried to use my TomTom 700 to remember where I parked my car, using Add Favorite using GPS Position. It never seems to work. The end result shows the Favorite as hundreds of yards away from my car (which is parked in the open air). Everything else about the TomTom 700 seems flawless. I love the device (it is absolutely a marriage-saver), but I'd really like to use it to remember my parking spot. I have emailed TomTom support, but it has been many weeks and they have not replied. Anyone have any ideas or answers?

Thanks!

When you save the Fav, does it appear to be where the cursor currently is?

Are you parking on the street or in a large parking lot? If you are in the parking lot, the TT tries to 'snap' to the closest street (and hence your problem.)

But if you are parking on a street, then I don't understand why it isn't working.

Yes, the problem seems to occur in a large, open-air parking lot. I see, thanks to you, that indeed it snaps to the nearest street. Is there any way around this?

If you use the 'last leg' in Browse Map the Current Position won't lock to the nearest road, but will indicate your geographical relationship the the Saved Favourite.;)

You will have to Tap the Compass Arrow, at the top of the Screen, to Update the Current Position as you move.

Seriously, I don't follow you (pardon the pun).

What if I have my TomTom in my pocket, turned off. I drive to the mall, which I know how to get to because it's my local mall. I pick a new parking spot, then turn on the TomTom. What would I do then?

Also, I don't keep my compass turned on. Will I need to, 'cause I'd rather not.

Thanks!!

Brain working quicker than fingers.;)

Mark your spot in the usual way (Add as Favourite), when you've parked.

Use the Navigate to ... | Favourite to get you to the nearest road.

Then switch the TT to Browse Map. Press the Compass Arrow, at the top of the screen (which is permanently there), and your current position is shown by the flashing cursor.

Tap the Cursor Icon, at the bottom, and choose Centre on Map and then Zoom In with the Slider Control. This should give a Map View with about 75 metres all round your position.

Your car will be shown by the gold star, remembering that the Map is North Up.

It takes longer to say, than to do. You will obviously need a GPS Fix to be able to do it.Smile
