I recently bought a Nuvi 310D and the package incuded European street level mapping on DVD (City Navigator NT+ Europe v8)
I understand that I need a 25 character unlock code or an 8 character coupon code to unlock the maps. The only code of any sort that came with the package was a 10 character serial Number on the map DVD case which doesn't seem to be relevant in the scheme of things.
Any assistance or clues on what to do next would be much appreciated. _________________ Compaq iPaq 3850; TTN5; 256k Sandisk CF; Transplant jacket; Arkon powered PDA speaker mount; External GPS antennae with MCX connector

I thought that the 310 came with the DVD but only had one region unlocked, usually the region in which the device was purchased. I believe that you need to buy the unlock code for the rest of the maps from Garmin. You might have to register your device to do this as the Garmin pages have changed recently. _________________ Tim |

Thanks for your swift response.
According to the leaflet I kept from the supplier the 310D (Deluxe) has certain additional features over the normal 310, one of which is European street level mapping but provided on DVD rather than preloaded. The box also said European street level mapping was included. There will be major ructions if I find out that is not now the case. _________________ Compaq iPaq 3850; TTN5; 256k Sandisk CF; Transplant jacket; Arkon powered PDA speaker mount; External GPS antennae with MCX connector

I've just looked at a few advertisers and they are all saying this so I expect it is correct. Have you actually installed the software onto your PC and tried to load any other maps? If it asks for an Unlock code, you could try calling Garmin on 01794-519944. _________________ Tim |

I have loaded the software and it has asked for an unlock code.
I will, as you suggest, contact Garmin.
Many thanks _________________ Compaq iPaq 3850; TTN5; 256k Sandisk CF; Transplant jacket; Arkon powered PDA speaker mount; External GPS antennae with MCX connector

In the box is a yellow piece of paper (it maybe inside the DVD envelope, it maybe in with the other pieces of paper). This yellow paper has the magical unlock code on it.
The 310D comes with an unlock code to allow you to load up any and all of Europe, although the UK Map is the only one built into the unit. |

Thanks for the information.
I religously kept every scrap of paper that was in the box including some irrelevent stuff but alas no yellow slip!
I will see what Garmin say. _________________ Compaq iPaq 3850; TTN5; 256k Sandisk CF; Transplant jacket; Arkon powered PDA speaker mount; External GPS antennae with MCX connector

If it's definitely not there, I would question the retailer and ask them if you can return it for another one with the unlock code in the box. Not having the code means that the box must have been opened and the code removed, which might imply you've been sold a returned / demo unit, and not a brand new unit.
Which retailer by the way? |

The retailer was everyone's favourite - Halfords!
To be fair, they were very helpful at the time and I will pop in and see them a.s.a.p. _________________ Compaq iPaq 3850; TTN5; 256k Sandisk CF; Transplant jacket; Arkon powered PDA speaker mount; External GPS antennae with MCX connector

Well, if the unlock code is definitely not in the box (might be worth one more thorough check), simply take it back and ask for an exchange for another one, and check it is there... |
