I've just bought the latest 5.1 upgrade for my MD95900, including the upgrade disc and the full street level maps for East & West Europe. :D
The load onto the SD card was fairly simple, although there is only one SD card that they tested the full Europe maps on only one SD card type (I only found that out after trying to load the maps onto another SD card type, which wouldn't work! ).
I also advised them to remove their 'seamless' claim on the Medion website, as that bit of water between England and France seems to throw things up in the air! It's not a problem though, as once you get to France, the maps truly become seamless, and it is such a boon!
I'm really happy, although it did take nearly 10 calls to Medion to eventually get there!
Am I the new 5.1 guru? |

I've been running 5.1 on the 95900 for months now. I don't see what the difficulty was? I just put the relevant files on the memory card, did a hard reset using the switch on the back, and everything just installed and worked perfectly first time. |

When I upgraded the unit to the 5.1 version with UK maps, all was well (they come standard with the upgrade disc). It was when I recently purchased the full E & W Europe street level maps, that problems began to arise.
Did you put the full East & West Europe maps on your SD card? If so, presumably you used a 2gb card, but which one did you buy? I used a standard Sandisk card the first time, but while the maps loaded, the unit wouldn't recognise the card.
I called Medion, and they told me that they hadn't tested the full E & W Europe street level maps on that particular card, and that it was one of the many 2gb cards that won't work with that amount of information on.
They told me to buy a 2gb Sandisk Ultra II card, which I did and hey presto, it works!
Besides Hoolooloovoo, you are probably well versed in IT witchery, whereas I am a complete dunce! |

Well, my MD95900 has just come back from Medion, as their information regarding full fitment of the E & W Europe maps on the Sandisk Ultra II 2 gb card was incorrect. I had tried to load the info on the newer card, but all I got was a blank blue screen with Medion shown on it.
I called Medion, who asked me to send the unit in to them. Lo and behold, what I had been telling them came to pass, in that the maps do NOT fit on the SD card! It transpired that their testing had been c/o on another Medion unit, which was compatible with the Ultra II card.
So, for my efforts they are giving me 2x 1gb cards, each with Europe maps A and B loaded onto them! Free of charge! I get to keep my 2gb Sandisk Ultra II card too, which will be going back on Ebay! :D
Its nice when you are proven right!
So, for all you MD95900 owners, note that you won't be able to load the full E & W Europe maps onto a 2gb card. You should buy a 1gb card and load one of the Europe A, B or C maps onto it. I've been told by Medion that they are still seamless, once you get across the channel, but I wonted hold my breath! |

Can you supply data on how much the upgrade costs?
Atm I have 4.75 and the standard UK plus main roads of Europe.
Would like to upgrade to full Europe, but not at any price.
Also any other advantages of going to 5.1? And whats the cost? |

I think the main reasons for the upgrade being better than the 4.75 are that the maps themselves have newer information, plus they have the TMC software. For those of you wishing to use them in Europe, the maps are 'seamless' which means you do not have to load a different country map each time you cross a border.
As for the costs, the upgrade disc costs £99, and the E & W street level maps cost £79, from Medion. PM me for other information. |

How do you mean, bumpy? If by that you are asking about costs, I sent you a PM ages ago!
If you are interested, send me a PM. We have to be a bit circumspect about this! |
