Hi, I'm thinking of buying a TT1 V2 Regional (UK) as its £70 cheaper than the V2 Europe.

Can I at a later date purchase the European maps and install them into the Regional device if needed?

Cheers Wink

As one Map uses TeleAtlas, and the other Navteq, it is possible that they might not work.

But until either TT tells us different, or someone trys it in Real Life, we won't definitely know. Don't forget, it's still very new.

Hmmm... my WE v650 wont load on my new TT ONE v2 the screen freezes and requires reset. As does my USA v567. On a whim I tried a GB v605 and 562. All froze. All are on firmware 6.15. I'm not going to panic yet ( several hundred pounds of software I can't use at the moment!) I have emailed TT awaiting reply. It's probably something simple and easy to fix Confused

OK TT got back to me. They say "the new TT ONE requires some different supporting files on the SD Cards".

They sent me a fix which involved me deleting all the FILES on my WE Card v650 (I backed it up b4 of course) leaving only the FOLDERS and then copying over only the FILES from the v2 GB-Region SD-card to the WE-card. The fix works fine. This new ONE is great!! There are 4 drivers in my family between us we have a GO Classic, a TT ONE (classic??) Smile , GO 300 and now MY V2 TT ONE. The new ONE feels the part, fits neatly in my hand its nice and slim. My wife likes it so I guess she will purloin it and I will be back with my GO 300 Laughing

Macbobby, would you happen to know if the same fix would work on my USA SD map?

I just copied the system files from the SD card on my new TT1 v2 , to the card on my Rider and Classic , they both now have the V6.15 operating system and both "older" maps now load on the new One v2.

Yes I have tried it on my USA v567 map and it works fine. Uptowndisco are you sure the operating system is not 6.50?

Did you copy or move anything else, I bought my usa ,canada map from tomtom a few weeks ago and was told by them that it should work but it doesn't and I'm going to the states on thursday. Can you let me know what to do either on here or by PM or e-mail.

Thanks

I will PM you the full text of the fix when i get home. It involves a considerable amount of copying/pasting/deleting No problem to me, and probably for most who read and contribute to these forums, but I would imagine your average punter could find it a bit daunting. It works though

Hi Guys

It would appear that as Oldboy expected, if a ONE is purchased with Teleatlas mapping it may be that this cannot be updated to European Navteq mapping at a later date, although of course there are European Teleatlas maps available.

I suppose this raises the difficult question as to which maps are better (so far there don't appear to be many posts in the relevant thread so I assume they are of a similar quality?).

My email to TomTom is below:

Dear Mr Brown,

Thank you for your enquiry. Although we cannot yet confirm which mapping data will be used for the next map update download, it is likely that these will be TeleAtlas maps. The Navteq maps cannot work in combination with TeleAtlas maps

With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team

Dear TomTom

If I buy a TomTom ONE Regional will I at a later date be able to update the maps to those used by the TomTom ONE European version, which uses Navteq maps rather than TeleAtlas maps. On your website the European mapping SD cards available to purchase are only those with TeleAtlas data.
