Also, I would prefer that Garmin's programmers concentrate on better things like adding multiple waypoint support to the Nuvi than to changing a hidden screen :D |
I agree with you on your last point. I was simply stating that the Nuvi 310 was designed and originally tested with the GTM-10 at the time.
I'm definitely not interested in Garmin enhancing the diagnostic system screens. That's their business :-) |

Just spoke to Garmin UK this morning - and asked for one of the new PSU cables and the guy said they are still working on a permanent fix and the cables they are sending out are the ones with the surpressor etc. - I mentioned that on this site people are saying that the "new fixed" cables are in stock and are being sent out and he said this is not the case - they are still working on the problem and added me to their spreadsheet of people who want the new cable when it gets released. He offered me the interim cable with surpressor etc. in the meantime... I live in Exeter and around Exeter my level rating on channel 95 is between 13 and 15 all the time although as soon as I leave Exeter it goes down to about 5-7 if I am lucky!! |

Thanks for that simonhouse, it did seem a little quick for Garmin to have the new chargers available.
Lucky you with regard to the signal - I saw a signal strength of 8 for the first time the other day, and it still wasn't consistent enough for reliable traffic reception (however, I'm yet to receive my suppressor due to working away from home). |

So it sounds like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing at Garmin. Poor communication, because the person sending out the cable from Garmin UK said it was a permanent fix. What you have told me, sounds like this is not the case.
I'll see what I get in the post. It will be easy to tell if this is just one that includes the surpressor. I can also put a scope on the other end to see what kind of output I am getting.
I'll let you folks know what happens, but I'll be annoyed if I have been fobbed off with a half-cocked solution. |

Even more interesting, as the "short term fix" was a suppressor (aka ferrite core) to be applied to the GTM cable, not the power adaptor at all. If it was as simple as a ferrite core on the power adaptor, then the current "short term fix" would have been the permanent one anyway! |

Well I've finally had enough and taken my 310D back for a refund.
Garmin haven't done themselves any favours. Tech support haven't responded to any email dating back over 10 weeks - different issues each time.
Sales cannot even respond to queries on maps for the product.
I do not think its acceptable to have to wait an hour to get answered on the phone - especially if I'm paying for the call.
Apart from the TMC issue I don't think they have fixed the routing between maps. On my unit a route from Slough to cherbourg goes via Gatwick, then U turn back up to the M25 to Dover .......
I think its worse that getting "route calc error "
I also had the problem where the GPS position on the map was incorrect in relation the car on the road - so you could miss the turn either by turning too late or early
Luckily I can afford to wait a bit before having to buy a replacement unit. I don't want all extras the Garmin have added to the unit; just good navigation in a small package. Tom Tom one v2 seems to offer this, unfortunaly without tmc |

Well if this forum is the tip of the iceberg how many other people are being kept in "mushroom" conditions, Garmin are doing themselves no favours, and I for one will be very wary of purchasing another one of their products. |

Received updated charger - no suppressor but the circuitry is completly different so this is not just a bodge - more a real fix. |

Would be interested in hearing your views if you do go for the TT1 v2. I think there are a few of use here (RDS?) who are adopting a wait and see approach after being dissapointed with the nuvi.
Cheers - Nick |

interesting, the part number given is the part number of the lead supplied with my nuvi 360. This lead has an all red led).
Must admit that when I have signal, TMC is vey good but living away from a transmitter that broadcasts TMC I invariable have no signal at home.
I have fitted a suppressor (no supplied by Garmin) but this made little or no difference either good or bad. |
