Hiya,
if thats the only thing that is needed for TT6 - then why cant I find my Dell x50v with pocketpc 2003SE on the list?
And i got a mail from the TT-support that TT6 won't install if its not compatible. I also red this in the german pocketnavigation-forum and TT then confirmed that.

some of the dells do seam to be temprimental the just because the pda is not on the list dosent mean tt6 wont run on it. the list i would think is made up of devices that have tt will have tested and know the application runs on. there are so many devices and rom diffences that it would be impossible to test every device and and every rom that was produced on each device. so some devices will be left of the list but that doesnt mean it wont run
usually if your device falls with in the minimum specs for the application then it should run _________________ currently using aponia truck navigation on windows phone. Good bye IOS don't let the door hit you on the way out .

thats what I thought too - like it was with TT5. If the device is not on the list the only problem u could face is that TT won't give u any support. But the better support for problems u get anyway at the forums
I was asking TT if this means that they dont offe me support if I face problems with TT6 or - like i red in the german forum - that it even won't install. And the answers was: TT6 will not install on your device if it is not on the list!
Anyway i dont know what they will do when my device is on the list later, when TT is allready in the stores...will i get then an update to do the installation????

Indeed, no-one knows yet, and it's unlikely that your model will appear on TomTom's compatibility list. However, many people have 400Mhz WM2003 devices which run TTN6 satisfactorily, albeit without screen rotation. However, TomTom are apparently discussing whether or not to make the new maps available for use with TTN5. OK, so you wouldn't have Buddies and so on but you would have TomTom support available. _________________ Tim |

in to repeat mode
the miminum requirement for ttn 6 is that the machine runs ppc 2003 just because your machine isnt on the list does not mean ttn6 will not work the only machines we know it wont run on are thoughs that run ppc2002.

Why all this fuss about TT6? It wont get you to your destination any better than TT5 and apart from a few new gimmicks and your pockets being a little lighter you will know very little difference.
I’m all for change, but TT6?, No thanks. But new maps for TT5, Yes please.. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Is there a review somewhere? Without vastly improved time estimates and much improved routing and a big discount I'll be keeping my money. |

I think you will be disappointed two (if not all) areas :D
From my own point of view with TT5.21; I never find the timings to be that bad - it tends to over-estimate the journey time a bit - but only by 1 or 2 mins in a 45 min journey.
Routing has always been problematic - and it doesn't seem to have been much improved reading comments posted on TT6 (whether legal or not!). Most of the issues seem to be caused by innacurate maps. My route home from work takes me over the Manchester Ship Canal in Warrington. TT (V3 to V5.21) consistently routes from the bridge to the road which passes under the bridge - which would involve negotiating a 40 foot embankment!
Discount - I think I am correct in stating that there isn't an upgrade for us TT5.21 users - I haven't bothered too much as I haven't seen anything to tempt me away from my stable 5.21 config. I would like newer maps and I hope they do consider this for us loyal users. I've owned TT from it's first version and did benefit from the bonus upgrade from UK to Europe a while back. |
