Hi all,

Another newbie question I'm afraid.

I am using a BT-77 with a N70 using TTM 5.

TT claims to see the BT GPS but that there is no signal. The GPS status screen has 0's everywhere and nothing in any of the bars. Occasionally some of the bars are partially filled in (but only about 1 is above the line at the top of each bar) and each bar has a number at the bottom.

Now, the BT manual says the GPS has to be charged for 8 hours before use - which I am doing at the same time as testing it.

Does my 'problem' sound like a problem with the GPS (ie qaulity of signal is determined by battery power and location) ? Or with the TT ?

Also, I assume in the ideal world - all the bars would be full ?

Regards,

Are you testing the units in thr car with a clear view of the sky? If your trying to get a signal indoors it's mostly a waste of time. Also if your vehicle has a heated or anti glare coated windscreen you may need an external GPS aerial.

First fix can take as long as 30 mins from a cold start, then usually about 3 to 5 minutes the next day.

Thanks.

When I actually got the GPS inside the car everything worked fine - and I didn't lose the connection once for the whole trip.

On the way back however, the TomTom kept saying there was no GPS device. The N70 claimed to have paired up with the BT77 however.

Seemed to have a found a reliable working solution now which varies between;

1) Reboot N70
2) Start BT77
3) Start TomTom

or, if TomTom says no GPS device simply rebooting the GPS device.
