Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support. The map version for Navigator 6 will obviously be the latest version ...
Does it anyony else that you can neve, ever, ever get a straight reply from TT??? Every single question I've asked these guys gets this type of answer!!!!
Does anyone know if the TT V6 will come with V632 maps?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regarding Ireland, check the existing maps/Teleatlas coverage here.
Ciao!!!
Hope it helps. |

I understood that was because it contained ALL (20) langs. I understoodd the UK was about 430Mb (still huge I admit...but)

Well, we will see. The leaked and translated French one states it does.. .. _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

Indeed further investigation suggests you are indeed correct. I am awaiting clarification on the platforms supported at initial release but it does seem that the installer is multi platform and will install the correct version for your device.
This is indeed good news although activations will still be limited as before. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren,
Are you, therefore suggesting that if I wanted to run TTN6 on my Pocket PC and mobile phone I would need two licences????
That's going to be interesting to install.
On the Text to Speech, most PPC have at least 1 GB and my Nokia N80 has a staggering 2GB _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |

For TT 5 Mobile and Navigator you've always needed a license for the PDA and Mobile being used. Of course you could cheat but that's illegal.
Not being a killjoy but if we want TT to do PDA/Mobile versions then we need to buy licenses. Otherwise it will be their hardware platform only.

To answer the question about 2 licenses, the answer obviously is yes.
Except (for v5) in the first few days of registering you can move the license to another device. And after I think 6 months you can move to another device.
It's always been the maps licensed not software anyway. I bought TT5 Navigator for Europe but moved this via new TT Code to my N70 for TT Mobile 5. |

I find it astonishing that TTS takes up 4GB.
About 15 years ago, I had a TTS program on my computer that took up about 100KB. OK, fair enough that the Tomtom version would probably sound better than the basic one I had, but surely it's possible for them to include a lesser quality TTS system in Navigator which still offers the same level of functionality. |

Also, does anyone by any chance know if there will be new Australian maps coming out with TTN6? |

Is there any formal announcement refuting the "last PDA version"?
Darren, regarding your reply to my earlier post, is it based upon a formal annoucement?
Thanks. |

The licence always only permitted one install on one device at any one time but the installer in previous versions allows a second install to an alternate device after 7 days and a third after 180 days.
As for 'most PPC having 1GB cards, that is far from the case but I take your point that cards are cheap but TTS requires a fair bit of processor power. By their very nature PDA's and Phones do not have much of this spare and the difficulties in developing for such unknowns may be another reason for the lack of availability. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Remind me what that was? I'm rushing out the door and don't have the time to wade through four pages of posts! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Well, my Axim X50v has a 624 MHz processor, kicking the ass of any existing Go unit, so hardware restraint is hardly a good reson for them not to provide this feature. |
