It's there a way to get Tomtom 5 to tell me when I'm going over the speed limit?

What do you mean by firmware V6xx ? Confused
If it helps I'm currently using a XDA Exec whit it and a Holox (no Holux) bluetooth Gps receiver and work like a charm, but I thought that it would be nice to hear a warning whenever I go over the road speed limit, so I won't have to take my eyes of the road to look at the speedo all the time. (Got 6 points already for going like 6 or 7 miles over the limit :x )

I have a TomTom 510 which show's when your over the speed limit. Although it doesn't make a sound when your exeding the limit it just highlight's the speed red. I didn't read your post currectly My 510 uses v6.11 Firmware(software) which is essentially TomTom 6. I didn't read your post currectly and missed the 5 from "TomTom 5". I assumed you had a TomTom All-In-One Device. TomTom 6 should soon be available for PDA's and their should be some new maps available too. You will need TomTom 6 and the new maps for this feature to work. Sorry for my my error

Thanks for taking your time to try and answer my question, but that won't help me either because I'd have to look at the screen in stead of the speedo hence again not looking at the road. Rolling Eyes (Ah for a sound warning)

Without wanting to upset anybody, I just wonder why people can't use the speedometer supplied with the car in conjunction with an awareness of the speed limit from roadsigns. This would negate the need for all the reliance on speed camera databases as well.
Am I just being too simplistic here?

Quite simply you cannot warn above a certain speed with an audio alert there is no facility in the software for this.

The version 6 software, when combined with a new map (as supplied with the Go-x10 units) does offer a flashing display warning of speed, but no audio, also not all roads on the map contain the speed information.

One major problem with any system like this is that local authorities change road speeds fairly often, so the only sure fire method is to concentrate on the signs and speedo - Mike
