|
|
Hi
I have just signed up for a month and cannot download any versions of the Garmin files in IE. It may be significant that IE crashed as I left the PayPal site after it had successfully debited my card and given me a reference.
The message I get is:
Internet Explorer cannot download ...nloadcameras.php?idPackage=37 from www.pocketgpsworld.com
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.
The browser reconises that I have 30 days subscription. What could be wrong?

Hi
I am still not able to download the Garmin camera files. Is this the correct forum to receive advice and support from someone who can fix my subscription problem?

Hi LEB123, I don't use garmin so I can't be too much help post download, but I have just tested the garmin download and it worked with no problems, have you tried it again recently?
If you get another failure it may be woth checking to see if your firewall is blocking the download _________________ Samsung Note 20 ultra

Hi
I have tried to download many times over the past couple of days.
I just tried again with my firewall disabled (as suggested) and it still fails.
Are there any issues I need to check to ensure the site knows that I am a valid, registered user?

In internet explorer go to Tools - Internet Options and select the Security tab
Select the Custom Level button
Scroll down in the window to the downloads section and check that File Download is enabled, if not set this enabled and OK out of the windows and retry the download.
you can see who the site thinks you are on the speed cameras page (where you first select the sat nav system). Your user id and e-mail address are shown at the top of the camera submission section.
In general if you can reach the Speed Cameras page with no issues and the Your Account page the the site has recognised you. _________________ Samsung Note 20 ultra

Hi
File download checked - it is enabled. I commonly download from many other sites and do not normally have any problems.
I can reach the speed camera download page with no issues, it recognises me, showing my User ID & Email address, but still I get the same error when I select the Garmin download.

Further to the above, have you tried this (from the database questions and answers)
Q. I'm subscribed, why can't I download the camera database?
A. Please make sure that you always use the main site www.PocketGPSWorld.com and not a mirror site. Your browser needs to accept cookies from our site. There is an issue (which we are addressing) with cookies when you use a mixture of www.pocketgpsworld.com, pocketgpsworld.com (without the www) and the co.uk sites.
On Internet Explorer you can clear your cookies using Tools/Internet Options/Delete Cookies.
Some ISPs store (cache) web pages so they don't always update immediately. 'Hard' refresh subscription/download page by pressing 'Control' on your keyboard whilst pressing the refresh/reload button on your browser.
Are you sure that your privacy/security settings are not set too high? Try adding http://www.pocketgpsworld.com to your trusted sites (Using Internet Explorer - Tools/Internet Options/Security/Trusted sites). Is your firewall blocking us? You should also have JavaScript enabled. _________________ Samsung Note 20 ultra

Hi
I am using IE 6.0.2800.1106 and Tiny Personal Firewall.
I am using the main site http://www.pocketgpsworld.com which I have added to my trusted sites list.
I have tried clearing cookies which worked successfully as I then had to Logon at the next attempt.
I have Hard Refreshed the camera pages.
JavaScript is enabled.
Still no success!

Ok, this is starting to annoy, it must be driving you nuts.
In IE click "Tools - Internet Options", and select the Advanced tab, scroll down to the 'Security' section and ensure that "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" is not checked _________________ Samsung Note 20 ultra

Hi
You are right - it has been a tad irritating!
However, you have come up with the answer - "Do not save encrypted pages to disk" was checked - unchecking it has solved the problem.
I guess this could be a common problem as it must have been set by default - I am sure I have never changed that setting.
Many thank for all your help.
