Hi all
This is only FYI.
I saw something in the c710 which should be termed okay.
I had TMC on. On the highway, there was a portable signboard (on wheels )saying the "cops are watching you on this traject" [ corny translation from dutch ].
there were no visible cameras, so people were moving at snail's speed.
TMC showed me 3 places in that 5 kilometer stretch , now these places came up as a triangular white icon, with a red 'table tennis' bat located in the triangle. I don't think this icon is explained anywhere in the documentation, but homing into the tmc, it showed me as "police check points" & thus explaining, there were 3 check points on that traject , thus clarifying "cops are watching you on this traject" ( and it was not a 'section control camera' ) but cops on the sly at those specific locations.
I just thought I will share this 'good' feature of the tmc. |

I was driving down a motorway in Northern England at the weekend when I was re-routed.I looked at the TMC and it showed a 2 mile traffic queue. Trouble is, it was on the OTHER side of the motorway going in the opposite direction. I came off the motorway and it re-routed me back on again at the same junction!
I can't trust the TMC now. It frequently shows "problems" on the southbound motorway which are happening on the northbound. Crazy. |

Hi Inspector
we meet again :D
Would this be the reason, why TMC is conked up in the UK ?

Radio stations in every European countryExcept France and the UK now transmit a specially encoded TMC signal containing real-time traffic information.
Your Mio device receives every TMC message and automatically filters them to show those messages relevant to your chosen route. If an incident on your route is reported, you will receive it directly to your Mio device within 30 seconds of broadcast. You can then choose to either carry on regardless of the obstruction ahead, or let your Mio calculate a new route.
The Benefits of TMC
# Virtually immediate warning of any accidents, road works and traffic jams that lay ahead.
# Information is filtered only for your route.
# TMC works throughout Europe[ *Except France and the UK]– and the messages are always shown in your own language.
# In some countries, the TMC signal will also provide you with the locations of mobile speed cameras.

Hi MioMio,
I don't follow this one bit. We have TMC in the UK so why shouldn't it work as in the other countries. What is the point of radio companies putting it out otherwise? Why would they bother putting out a signal that DIDN'T include the relevant realtime information? Doesn't make sense. I think it must be something to do with the Mio's interpretation of it.
It shows standing traffic along the route you are travelling when you are actually passing it on the opposite motorway.
I bought the 710 mainly for this capability. I could have saved my money and bought the 510. It's a ripoff. |

Used my c710 in Germany at the weekend - very good got us to all the places we wanted no probs.
About the TMC, it worked in Germany. However, it didn't specify which a direction either. I think the issue might be generic to TMC? _________________ Cheers,

Will travel through Germany next week. One thing concerns me regarding TMC; is it only re-routing when it catches a "stau" or is it always re-routing, even if there is only a minor disturbance on the road?
Most of the time the autobahn is still the fastest road, even if there are road work going on (always) but it would be good to be re-routed in case of severe "stau" or other major delays.
Anybody knows? Is the TMC re-routing intelligent?
/M

Well I know for a fact that not all the UK TMC stations are there. Ten 17 (101.7) is not on there and that's the one mi unit tunes into for traffic updates. I have seen others in different parts of the country. Though, strangely never Classic FM - go figure. _________________ Cheers,

Strangely, Phillipa takes on an American accent to annouce "traffic jam ahead" just before recalculating your route?! _________________ Cheers,
