Hi can anyone help
I have just updated my ttg 700 with the latest software and note the option under mobile phone for Message Preference. On entering this I am told - You have selected a recorded human voice. Such voices can not be used to read street names or messages to you.
Is it possible to set the ttg700 to read SMS messages? if so how do I do it
Thanks in advance. |

Whilst it might be possible to get a computer voice working with an updated 700, its not 100% above board - as it would involve copying files/ folders from a 910 device to install a computer voice to your unit.
I am not saying its not possible but the copying of files (and the subsequent use of said files) you don't own is pushing the law on copywrite - Mike |

OK thanks for that info - it was just it seemed odd that the feature is shown yet not available. Guess so as to encourage people to upgrage to 910 etc. Do you think this is something that someone could create much the same as people have made there own voices for directions or are there other components which would be required which would put one back into the copywrite issue again.
Anyway thanks for the response - will save me trying to figue out what I have done wrong.

I don’t think the creation of a + 300MB speech file would be easy to undertake, so I doubt it will start to appear in the short term, the voice files are just one file in the equation, there are other files etc that would be required to enable this, so I would simply ignore the feature as it is not available on your device.
Also, sadly not all mobile phone phones support this feature, so even if it were to work there is no sure fire guarantee it would work with your phone. - Mike |

Many thanks for the response Mike
Its something that took my interest but must admit I doubt if it would be a feature I would use that often.
Cheers
