How do I cancel a route part way through?

Have searched and searched for this, but I cannot find it on the Tomtom 910. Example: hit the 'home' button the other day, and about 5 miles form home I wanted to cancel the directions as I knew where I was. Couldn't find the cancel button anywhere, so ended up having to turn the volume down to shut the thing up (I still wanted it switched on showing the map, but not directing).

Anyone?

Tap screen, scroll along 'till you see the "Clear route" icon and tap it.

You need to go to change preferences & then to page 3 of 3 then show all menu options & then you will have an extra page on your main menu which will be page 3 of 3 where you will find clear route & this will then cancel all directions.You will also find you will have 7 pages instead of 3 pages under change preferences as well.
