|
Hi All
I just wondered if this was possible (in theory) with an unlocked Mio - as it's just a windows CE device behind the scenes. Which version of Tomtom would it need?
As I said, just a theoretical question - I've no plans to try this.
TIA
Si. |

I have successfully run TomTom Navigator 5.21 on the C710
Be aware that you need to spend a Product Code/Activation for that. _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the quick reply. Which version of Tomtom Navigator 5 did you use (i.e. is there just a PDA / WinCE version, or are there different versions for different processors etc?). |

There's just one version. TomTom 5 is only available for ARM processors, and doesn't use any Pocket PC API calls. So it runs fine on CE systems. _________________ Lutz

Thanks again. I may be able to purchase TT through work, so I would be tempted to give it a go - but I'm assuming there's no way to test without buying TT Navigator (i.e. Tomtom don't provide a demo version or similar)? |

There's no demo version but you can install and run TomTom to the point where it says "no maps found" _________________ Lutz

Unfortunately didn't work for me. Managed to borrow a copy off someone at work, but couldn't get the install to work. Autorun didn't work at all, and trying to run the ttn.cab file myself, nothing happens. all the other modules (gps.cab etc) install fine, just the ttn.cab doesn't do anything.
Shame, but for some reason doesn't seem to work on the C510. What version of Windows CE does the C710 have? |

Windows CE 4.2
You can unpack the CAB file and copy the two files (TomTom Navigator.exe and data.chk) manually. _________________ Lutz

Sort of got it working... obviously can't get past the registration, so I don't know if it would work once activated. Is there any way at all that I can "test" before buying - as I don't want to get work to shell out for the full product only to find it didn't work (and I'm assuming it couldn't be returned, as it's software and the seals would've been broken). |

Just a question from an ignoramus. Why are you trying to get TomTom software to work on a Mio? What would the advantages be?
cheers

Temporary solution so I could use the PGPS speed camera database (which doesn't work currently on the C510E). |

No, there is no legal way.
Yes, it will work. _________________ Lutz

What GPS settings did you use on the C710?
I have tried all the settings but it will not work.
Thank you in advance! |

Having problems... installed (not without problems in istelf, manual unzipping etc), but when loading after registration, the application just hangs - any ideas? |

Lutz,
Is this a complete replacement "hack" so to speak - i.e if you have to do a hard reset does it return to the original Mio stuff??
If so i might be tempted to give it a go until they get the POI's sorted...
