I've used Garmins and TomTom, and while I liked both, I found I liked the map accuracy of TomTom more. I live in the states, but they have a great reputation for European maps.
How much are you looking to spend? |

You need to tell us a bit more about what you are looking for - what do you want the sat nav to do, what are must haves and what are you not worried about.
For your budget you have a very wide choice - ranging from very simple units to ones that will act as a handsfree phone kit and MP3 player.
The best bet is to find a shop which ahve several on display that you can play with - go for the one that you find easiest to use and mets all of your requirements. _________________ Peter

Even though you don't need all the features, don't discount PDA options where the PDA has built in GPS.
They are often more easy to carry with you when away from the car (and quite good for recording where you parked it!) - you can even set an alarm to remind you when your parking is due to run out.
But that aside, provided you don't go for too fancy equipment, a package with navigation software, can be around the same price as some similarly specified stand-alone units.
But the clincher for me, was that you are not tied into what the original manufacturer chooses to offer in the way of upgrades - you can change the software to another company's. |

I can only speak from the ones I've used. I've used the TomTomGo700, and the Garmin c320. Of the two, I preferred teh TomTom because of the Bluetooth compatibility.
If I were buying one, I'd probably get the 910 they have now, but they have a cheaper model too (the 510) |
