oldfogy...

You are quite correct, although it's Beep 1, 2 and 4 that remain with their default sounds. I can't understand that. It actually does the same with Vicky, I just haven't noticed as I haven't passed the relevant POI's. This must be a fault with the soundpatcher utility. Don't know the answer I'm afraid.

Any ideas anyone ?

999tommo

Not in a nasty way and unfortunately,
but thank god for that I thought it must be me "again"

With mine it's definitely Beep1, Beep2 and beep3.

I did e-mail Lutz Benlin asking for a possible solution seeing as it's his program, but my e-mail was returned from someone called "Lutz Benlin (PocketGPS)" saying wrong delivery address.

So I remain a little mystified at the moment.
But thanks for the reassurance it's not just me.

No that was MY typing error, it should have said "Lutz Bendlin (PocketGPS)" Grrrr

So I thought, getting no where fast at the moment with that software, so I'll split the data.chk file, assign the sounds that way, then stitch it back together again, "guess what" the (Viftool) program I found was also faulty so I couldn't stitch it back again.

Any-way, all may not be lost, as I have also been speaking to someone else and I think we may have something available in "hopefully" the near future. Jumping With Joy Soon

Phil and others, If you are looking to use the POIExtend utility, with the Vicky Archer voices (or Liz for that matter) it will require a new revised version of POIExtend program, the previous iterations of this will not work with the new TomTom application, I am sure Ray will sort this out, as he has done for every release of TT software, I would wait until there is an announcement on Rays site that the application you are trying to use will work correctly – Mike

Thanks for the update Mike it's much appreciated.
I have also spoken with Ray, however we just have to wait a little longer.

Although the existing POIExtend program does "appear to work", just that it is not entirely (100%) accurate as some of the assigned voices seem to get lost, so it may be possible that these lost files maybe overwriting other direction files, resulting in directions not being accurate also.

Any idea when v6 might be coming out, as I believe this will be able to cope with more than the existing 59 files, (an extra 30).

The navigation voice prompts are in a completely seperate file to the warnings so I won't will cross contaminate the navigation prompts.
As to version six for the PDA, your guess is as good as mine, no idea, the only way of trying it at the moment is via the Go-x10 product range.
I didn't contact Ray with respect to this specific issue, but going off past releases it will get sorted out given time - Mike

I'm not quite sure if we are maybe talking at cross purpose here?
And please forgive me if I have it wrong (as usual).

Just to clarify.
I'm not referring to the Camera locations which are in the map folder.
Or "extra" spoken voices in the Voices folder.

But,
The 59 Navigation voice prompts in the data.chk file which include the standard audio prompts such as "Bells, Cuckoo etc" or at least they are in my data.chk file.
"Cuckoo is assigned the file name MwExit.ogg" -
"A Bell sound is assigned the file name Depart.ogg" -
"Beep Beep is assigned the file name BearLeft.ogg" -
and so-on until all 15 sounds have been allocated a file name.

Now, since installing the 5652_data.chk file, these sounds are replaced with voices.

Now a question please, by installing voice prompts for the camera data-base are we losing possible vital driving instructions?

If not, then is it ok to manually replace the existing sounds with voice files such as the Vicky or Liz files, seeing as the POIExtend program is not suitable?

Thanks,

As I said before there is no connection between the POI warning voice file which is data.chk and lives in the program files/ navigator folder and the dataxx.chk file(s) (xx denotes the number assigned to the specific voice in a range from 00 to 99) these navigation voices live in the memory card voices folder, along side each one is a coresponding .vif file and in the case of custom navigation voices (celeb voices) a .bmp file that contains the picture displayed when selecting the voice from the menu.
To mess around with the navigation voice prompts is possible but takes considerable time, there are other posts within the forum detailing how to take apart and re-build the dataxx.chk file (viftool is the one to use, but I would leave the nav voice alone for now)
I hope this explains the situation.
If you are finding some sucess with the existing POIExtend program make a note of the problematic locations and simply don't use them, try adding the same .ogg voice file into the application in one of the spare slots (you have 30 to go at). - Mike

Mike, Once again thanks very much for your help, advice and support, (I really do mean it).

It appears I am talking about the POI data.chk file in the root of the card, not the spoken voices in the voices folder, for the moment I must leave it as is, (for now anyway). Except you say there are 30 slots!

If there were, then there would not be a problem, but there are only 15.
Unless you have a different version?

The 15 slots are as supplied with the software, the POIExtend utility, (when capable of dealing with the version you are using) is sorted out will increase this number to 30 warnings, as I said earlier, I think you will have to wait a while - keep checking the sites for updates as it will happen - some people have day job - Mike

Bringing this post back on track, the reset method suggested by Tom Tom support has fixed my clock. Cheers to all who replied.

Mine still isn't fixed. I've tried everything. It did briefly work, until the internal battery ran completely flat and then reverted to the same old problem.
