|
|
Recently got a 910 but the mount inside is of the old type. I am looking for the NEW type of mount. Could someone please direct me to where I can get this from at a reasonable price.
Picture below shows old and NEW mount.
Thanks |

Hi their just give TomTom customer service a call and tell them that you have a faulty mount and they will send you a new one, You wont even have to send your old one back |

No you dont all I did was give them a call on 0845 161 0009 and they just asked me what the fault was and asked me how long I've had it. Just tell them you've had it about 2 month's and they'll just send you a new one. Although my mount is genuinelly faulty!! They know that their are many problems with the mounts so Are more than happy to replace the mounts for free. Although I think everyone who has the old mount should request a new mount as I thought I was one of the lucky ones until my mount broke!! |

great thanks. My mount looks ok but its the old type so its bound to go wrong at some point. I am off on holiday for a few days and dont want it to fail in between the trip so hence the need for it.
Your time and effort is much appreciated |

Just a couple of things,
1) tomtom are out of mounts, you are looking at 10-14 day lead time for replacements (why didnt mine go wrong a week earlier eeek)
2)from reading other forums this revision will not fix the drooping problem, its only going to help the people that cant get the hang of fitting it to the mount correctly and to stop it disconecting when going over bumps etc
The ball joint mech is the same as the old mount and that is whats causing the problems with it drooping either that or it sneaks a few pints in on the sly :D |

Got it ordered they said it should be here within 5-10 days so lets see.
The biggest problem seems to be the drooping. If only someone could make a better more reliable mount for the 910, I would jump to it !
thanks for the updates mrstella |

The drooping might have been fixed, If you look closely at the two photos the plastic part where the ball goes is longer on the new one which just might give it a better grip. I don't have a new one (waiting for it to arrive) so I am just guessing. _________________ TomTom Go 910 (3) v.6.522 Map Western Europe v.650 with useless TMC receiver

I dont agree, the reason that it looks longer is just the way the two photos have been taken. The new image looks a lot flatter at the base plate which woill make the ball and extension look longer. |

From what I've heard, the newer mounts coming out won't cause the drooping...I hope that's the case with yours. I guess we'll know in a few more days. |

I guess time will tell. mrstella, it doesnt mention any improvements in the new one to do with the drooping (infact they said theyl keep us posted) but the neck on the new one is definately longer (its not just the case of the angle of picture). I guess time will tell ... |

nudda,
next time please include credits together with images you are linking here. We don't need any legal trouble around that. _________________ Lutz
