Cleggy - Yup. After much farting about, I finally got the 6.12 update working on my Classic. I also have the speed camera voices working correctly too. |
Which Voices were you using? PGPSW or the ones from Rays site?

Cleggy - After reading millions of posts re this subject, the way I did it was to *only* put the Great Britain maps and zip folder onto a fresh SD card, then use Home to install the (already downloaded) 6.12 update. |
I've got a 700 so not sure how I would do this bit??
Quote: | Cleggy - Afterwards you can then copy the voices folder and the new DATA.CHK onto the SD Card. Cleggy |
Do you mean copy the old voices and data.chk file from the original version?
I really want to use rays Extended Voices, but I'm still not sure if I can...
Any help? _________________ Steve

At the moment there are only voice warnings from PocketGPSWorld, the files available from Rays site do not support the new version 6 application as yet - no doubt Ray is beavering away so we can use the excellent Liz voices (as well as the others) again on both the new devices and the new application
The same applys to the POIExtend application, at the moment it will not support the version 6x applications - Mike |

I'm new so I can ask stooopid questions... What is 'Ray's site' ? Sounds interesting if it has stuff for the tomtom, including the voices mentioned for speed cameras. Can the link be given?

The PGPSW ones. They work fine

The actual VOICES *folder* that contains all the original voices plus any you've downloaded. Then download the data.chk for vers 6.12
Hope that helps ? |

Thanks Mike,
I haven't actually got V6 yet, well not from TT anyway, I downloaded it from somewhere that someone posted here, so I may sit back and wait for the "official" one to come out, maybe Ray would have finished beavering buy then.
Thanks again. _________________ Steve

You can't - unless you find someone with a x10 device, and illegally (?) copy the Text-To-Speech files over to your device. _________________ Lutz

RE: speed cameras. Are the speed camera files no longer normal POI files? If they are the same as before, how does the unit know which POIs are speed camera ones to allow you to edit them via the speed camera screen? |
are there any site to download some POI speed cameras for the US? |

mikealder wrote: | You can still use the speed camera warning system in the same way as previous versions, the Icon you have spotted on the screen is part of the TomTom camera database, having tried it I know which I prefer based purely on accuracy PGPSW is in a different class when I compared the two offerings, TomTom POI's for cameras was the first thing I removed to free up space and de-clutter the machine - Mike |
If we rename the PGPSW camera pois to whatever the TomTom safety camera files are called ???, would we be able to use the built-in safety camera icons in 6.12 to add/remove cameras from the ov2 files, or are these not POI files in the same sense as PGPSW ov2 files. I ask because on my ONE, POI Capture has never worked, and I thought this might be a good workaround. 6.12 is working fine on my ONE, using a 500MB MyMemory SD card. _________________ TOMTOM XL Live Western Europe |
