I have read in a few threads about a program called Mapsource which you can plan routes on or at least create POIs? Have had a look at the Garmin website, from where you can download version 6.11.1, but this is just an update for an existing installation.
I have a Nuvi 360, and didn't get any software for the PC with it, so would I be right in assuming that if I want to use Mapsource, I will have to purchase a copy from somewhere? |

Contact Garmin customer support. They will send it for free (did for my 350). |

Hi Jamas.
Have I missed something here?
Tried downloading and installing these file and my PC tells me "no mapsource product found, setup will terminate".
Are these updates only? If not, which file should I use.
Thanks in advance.

The mapsource you can download from Garmin's website is an update to the existing mapsource program only on your PC. It's no use if you don't have the mapsouce CD with the maps on it.
If you have a Gamin GPS like the Nuvi or Quest 2 with no mapsource CD/DVD for use on your PC then people here have said that if you ask Garmin nicely and they will send you one. _________________ Gone fishing! |

If you do get a copy of Mapsource to use with the Nuvi then does anyone know if you can copy the maps from the Nuvi onto Mapsource on the PC. I tried with the copy I bought (with maps for Canada) but it claimed it could not find any maps on the Nuvi. |

Sorry my fault.
If you go on the GPS topo web site http://www.gpstopo.fr/ and register, you can download a free demonstration (topo) map. It comes with Mapsource and then you can upgrade it via the previous link I gave.

As far as I know you can't.
I think the "receive maps from GPS unit" option only returns the names of the maps loaded on the GPS, not the map data itself which it assumes you have loaded on the PC using the DVD. _________________ Gone fishing! |
