First and foremost, it will not be too expensive.. No more than £250. £200 pref. but would maybe stretch to £300.

It must come with suction mount and car charger - if they all don't already?

Only need UK maps.

Needs to recalculate route quickly should a wrong turn be taken.

Should give clear, early directions. And should be clear to read off screen too.

7 digit post codes - if it is not just used to find address, and actually pinpoints location (as i wouldnt mind typing the address).

Accepts PocketGPS Speed Camera Database or has its own.

Any of the TomTom products will do all of those things.

The Garmin i3 works a treat but is a bit too small to see clearly unless you have 20/20 vision. If you wear reading glasses as I do (+1.50) it can be a bit of a squint! It has no volume linked to speed either. Finally, the scroll wheel is a bit slow to input data, but it's a minor hiccup unless you are a multi drop delivery driver. All that said, it is fantastic value for money and does the job splendidly. I paid £129.99 fo mine and my daughter is currently using it. The C310 woul overcome all (?) of the above problems (Not sure about volume linked to speed)

The tomtom one is fantastic value. The mapping is, in my opinion, better than Garmin's, as are the voices and general interface.

The Navman 330/520 aren't as good as any of the above IMHO

I'd personally choose the tomtom one

Having recently purchased the TT One (May 2006) from PC World (with FREE ac charger) and carry case, for £258.99.

I would highly recommend it, sound is good and loud also links to speed of car if you want.

Also plenty of room on the supplied 128MB SD card for Speed/Safety cameras and a "few" extra voices.

Map for my area is also "Up-to-date" newish estate.

However, I believe there are to be newer/up-dated maps coming out sometime toward the end of this month, so it might pay to wait a few weeks. My current UK map version is "v605"

Hi,

I have ruled out the i3 as manual input is just not and a bit too small, even though size isn't that big an issue.

Tomtom One seems to be edging it now.. The fact that new maps are released, will it mean they will come with them, even if its at a cheap price, e.g. I have seen it for £219 as best so far.

But why is Navman out of the running, thought it was the brand to have a while back (more so than Tomtom perhaps).

Any more for anymore?

Also bare in mind that all accessories "apart from the standard screen mount and car charger" come as "Extras" with TomTom.

£19.99 for ac charger
£19.99 for basic carry case.

Reduced price? I doubt it.

As for the map version, the best thing to do is try it in the shop and check which version is installed, find out first from the TT site what the newest version is first.

Like I said, I brought mine last month, so it's not going to be the newest/latest map version (v605).
