|
|
Don't know if it is the hot weather, or if my suction mounting thing is just getting tired, but is anyone else having problems keeping the mounting stuck to the windscreen. I have had my I3 since last September, & it usually falls off the windscreen about once a month or so, but at the moment I can hardly keep it in place for 5 minutes. Have tried cleaning suction cup & windscreen, but little improvement. |

I take it you have moistened it a bit before applying to the windscreen.

Try smearing a small amount of vaseline on the suction mount remember that this will leave a very distinctive mark when removed but should hold better to the glass.
The temperature in the sun that the black suction cup goes up to must be immense. |

I'd say it's the heat.
I noticed in the winter that when I had the car's heater on with the setting for them to clear the windscreen then when the temperature got too hot the suction cup would give up and fall off. Changing the heaters direction from the windscreen solved this problem...unfortunately you can't do that with the sun!
I guess you could try using the car's heaters on the cold setting with them directed on the windscreen to try and counteract the heat in the summer. I think you could be fighting a losing battle unless you have A/C though |

I think it depends on the shape of the windscreen as well. With my last car the i3 fell off quite regularly when it was in the bottom right hand corner of the windscreen. My new car has a flatter windscreen and it is a lot more difficult to remove the suction mount and the problem has gone away. I know it it doesn't really help in solving the problem, just an observation. |

Hi, I have found the complete opposite, I wanted to switch my I3 to another car & couldnt get the mount off the windscreen!
I tried heat, ac on full cold setting, still no joy. In the end I had to use brute force which resulted in bits of the rubber sucker left stuck to the windscreen!! Just like I had used super glue to mount it!
I will phone Garmin tomorrow to see i can get a new 1 under warranty (unit only 3 weeks old),
Does any one know where I can buy a new mount? |
