created & named a custom splashw.bmp (480 x 272 pixels) in landscape format for the 510.
renamed the original to splashw1.bmp.
Keep getting the red TomTom hands on a black b/ground.
Is there anything else which needs to be done specifically for *10 splash backgrounds??? |

Don't know but if it's any consolation I got exactly the same thing on the 510 - BMP file with 8 bits/pixel, 480 x 272, landscape format (as per the original) but it just isn't recognised. |

Could you try loading the original splash screen into your paint program and check all the tech. specs such as colour bit depth, resolution, size etc. and match your new one to those?
No one seems to have published a definitive set of specs for the new widescreen format yet, so if you get it working, post 'em here! |

I've put one on the 910, no worries at all. Just followed the same procedure as before just resized it to the wide screen size and bingo! it's there. |

You need a 24 bit BMP image 480x272 which can be created in Adobe photoshop - easy enough to do with a bit of fiddling around - even with photgraphs! I've just done one so now I ma graced with my good ladies photo whenever my 510 turns on! |

Yep! Thanks 24 bit BMP, that solved the problem on the 510, works now.
Previously tried BMP was 8-bit!! |

Hi,
I'm new to these forums so I figured I'd share the splash screen I created for my 510.

Nice bit of photoshopping, Andrew
Don't think I could live with oncer's sniper picture though. :x |

I found a decent video tutorial that shows how to "blend" two images/layers. Hope this helps.
