I recall reading or hearing about some software which changed a Tom Tom Go from daylight to nighttime colours at a given time, but for the life of me cannot find it or was I just dreaming about it.

http://www.automated.it/ttg-apps.html

There is a link half way down the page for "updated versions" but they haven't been updated for some time, so some or all may well not work on later versions.

It is similar in that it records a location, just doesn't have the encoded part.

I believe quickam only works with V5.202

FWIW, I downloaded all of the programs in this link onto my TTOne and none worked. I believe they are all for version 5.202. Does anyone know if there are updates for 5.4X versions ?

Afraid not.
Scaredycat (the author) got fed up with the way TomTom messed around by selling the SDK (software developers' kit) and then almost immediately making it useless by bringing out firmware that was incompatible with it.
Here's his "Goodbye" from the MyTomTomGo forum:
Quote:
I have decided that developing for the Go is really just too much effort for the following reasons:

1. TomTom have effectively killed off development by releasing firmware that is deliberately incompatible with the SDK.

2. TomTom provide no support and stopped replying to emails from (at least me) developers. Documentation is dire and incomplete. Even with the SDK everything you do feels like a nasty hack. I think you're all aware of the problems that the way .mnu files work gave everyone.

3. Version 6 seems to implement some of the features that I'd done, which means those apps aren't really needed. Although the buddy like stuff would have appeared sooner if TT had replied to my questions.

4. All in all developing for the Go has always been an arduous task. TT themselves stated that they weren't really interested in the little dev guys, they wanted companies to use the SDK for their internal stuff.

5. TT seem to release new hardware every other day. While it's not entirely a bad thing that the new hardware appears, it does make it almost impossible to get things tested - I don;t have access to anything other than a Classic Go to do any testing - aside from the help I was given by members of this forum.

I really sorry to just stop developing on the Go, but TomTom seem to work against developers rather than with them. I have neither the time nor the inclination to fight that fight...
