Anyway to get TT5 to cross borders on contiguous states and or regions? We travel far and wide and want to be able to go door-to-door from NY to SC without having to change maps.
If not, anyway to create custom regions so we can get the entire east coast?
I have seen some folks in the UK offering all 50 states of the US on a 1gb sd card but not sure if that is simply the major roads map or the detailed state maps rolled up into one map.
Many thanks in advance.

No and No.
The 1 GB card contains the complete US.
Alternatively you can use the MRA (Major Roads of America) map while on the highway, and then switch to the state group map when you get closer. _________________ Lutz

Lutz,
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know of anyone who has had success with the all US 1gb card? If not, being new, what do you think would be a good way to go about findng out if anyone has ever used it and if it really worked? Any suggestions as to whether or not you think it might be worthwhile to pursue? |

I am using it, and it works fine.
Map size does not play a big role in performance terms. It is all indexed to a large extend so that response time is guaranteed. The new GO 910 has all of the US and Canada in one map (about 1.4 GB) and works equally well. _________________ Lutz

I see that TT are selling regional maps of the US - since some of them, west coast for example, say that contain part of a state I assume that it is one continuous map, rather than individual states (would seem pointless halving a state otherwise). I also see they are selling the whole of US and Canada and the blurb implies that it is one continuous map. Are those for TT Go only or will they fir TT5? _________________ Peter

The maps will work on any device if you have the right product key. _________________ Lutz

I am thinking of buying the TeleAtlas Map of US - New England & Mid Atlantic region for a trip in July.
Does anybody know how up to date this is, or whether it is due for an upgrade in the next 6 weeks?
There's no useful info on the TomTom website.
Thanks. _________________ TomTom One

The Tele Atlas maps TomTom uses are great in the US. They haven't let me down yet. |

Just wanted to offer my opinion. I'm not sure when the next update will be available, but the maps on the GO 700 I am using right now are great. I haven't had a single issue with the device or the maps, and I've taken it through multiple states in the US. |

Thanks again David.
I asked TomTom support:
Quote: | I am considering buying Map of US - New England & Mid Atlantic region. However, you give no information on when the map was released or when it is next due for update. Can you please provide this information |
and received the following illuminating reply:
Quote: | As we will shortly be commencing a software and mapping data update period I would suggest waiting before purchasing a new map. We expect this period to commence sometime in the remainder of this quarter and for further updates you can continue to check our website regularly, or subscribe to our free monthly online newsletter. |
Needless to say they have not replied to further qestions on the topic _________________ TomTom One

Can you simply wait until just before your trip? That way, you will know that you have the most up to date maps that TomTom offers. |
