Good news for all of our tomtom ones:
Update May 2006 - TomTom ONE 5.450

Strange thing is, I clicked on the link but it still brings up the
Update November 2005 - TomTomONE 5.420 page...
stramge, anyone know anything about the update or the reason why the link isn't working??
Wonder what the update will change/include.
Still no news on version 6 for our ones is there

strange the file is named ttoneupd545.exe
but device still says 5.420 after updating |

Hi there.
I have managed to update my One now to version 5.450.
The only difference I can see is that the screen is brighter 
It's only a minor thing, also the name of the road at the bottom of the screen seems to only just fit on the actual screen.
Has anyone else noticed this??
If anyone also has found any differences, let us know,

Here is my TomTom ONE version screen:
Device ***** *****
App 5.450 (5652/060328) OS:1011
30 mb RAM (free: 6.7mb)
GPS v1.21, Boot 4.28
Map 'Great_Britain-Map' v605
Language: English UK
It appears that the Boot version has changed, is this true??
WHERE IS VERSION 6

| where did you download that new version ? downloaded from tomtom site and it says 5.420 when updated. Do you have straight link to file |

Are you sure your doing the update correctly??
Firstly i recommend you download the update again from here:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=3581&Language=1
Or a direct link:
http://www.tomtom.com/updates/ttoneupd545.exe
Then disable your firewall/anti-virus, i always find they get in the way
Connect your One to your pc via the usb cable and turn on your one. Then after it's finished thinking, doubleclick the update file to start the upgrade process. Remember you need to click on "install the application"
then it should update your one.
I always find after updating to turn the one off completly then unplug all of the cables, take the sd card out, re-insert and turn on the One.
Let me know if something doesn't work.
Please could other people post their findings on the One update and their boot versions ect.

| finally got it. Had to format whole card and put old backup back , then run .exe no work came sd-card error or something , loaded zip version and now its ok |

| had to put back old version. When I put my old POis back its doesnt wanna fire up anymore freezing in splash screen. Maybe I need also new SD card couple of times shows that sd card broken? icon. |

Don't see why you should. I never have when I've upgraded software on my Go300. Maybe something specific to the One?
What you WILL lose are any alert voice files (because the data.chk will get overwritten by a new version). But you would need to find and download the right one for the new firmware version anyway. |

I've just done mine and it was harmless.
Boot version has remained the same - 4.28
Camera database appears intact.
And yes, screen is brighter.
Does anybody know what the actual improvements are, other than increased compatability with bluetooth phones? |

I have upgraded to the latest update and have definately NOT lost any camera database. I have lost my POI warning voices, which I was quite attached to and as I don't have a new data.chk file for this version, I may go back to 5.42. The screen is definately brighter with 5.45, but othersiwe I can see no difference.

I've just done this upgrade and on the device screen I now get:
App 5.450 (5652/060328) OS:1011
GPS v1.21, Boot 4.28
Map: 'Great_Britain-Map' v605
I do remember Boot was 3.30 before the upgrade, and I've also noticed OS has changed too, it used to be 1008. |
