Hi, read the review with great interest. I been using Tomtom from 2 onwards on XDA XDAII and now XDAIIi. I changed to XDAIIi at the same time as upgrading to TT5.

First comment I would make is taking away the ability to show the phones icon bar at the top of the screen was a retrograde step.

Secondly, and the worst it that TT5 crashes every time the phone rings or a text is received, and some times for no aparent reason, possible cell change over. It works perfectly if you switch the phone to flight mode.

I have been pestering Tom Tom for nearly a year about this but they wont accept it. They have made me jump through all sorts of hoops. Now they want me to sent the whole lot to them in Holland for testing.

O2 wont support tom tom 5 because of the problem.

I would welcome comments.

A good number of users have reported the Trancend 80x SD card fixes the crashing problem, although this doesn't seem to affect all users of the device. Also make sure you don't have the O2 Active interface loaded as this can wreak havoc with the device. If you need advice as to how to remove this (if it is loaded) please re-post, but it does involve a hard reset and re-install of the software from the PC (back up is no use in this case) - Mike

you can reset the software to exclude the O2 stuff, try www.forum.xda-developers.com for more information. The other way is to use a single layer sd card of 80x speed rating or more, apparantely the voltage drop causes the card to switch of causing tom tom to lock, by using the faster cards this resolves this.

Had the same problem with my orange spv m1500 read all tips on here and on xda dev forumhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php and the best solution seamed to get a mmc card instead of the sd card so i got a kingston 1Gb mmc+ from mouse2house cost about £20 inc p+p had it a few weeks now and no more lock ups and had phone calls and texts while navigating tomtom minimized during phone call and maximized after i hung up

Don't want to speak to soon but i think problem fixed
