Just found this on the TomTom UK Site,
Totally unacceptable As the main reason for getting the 910 was the availability of TMC Traffic
Under Accesories for TomTom 910
--------------------
TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver
Get traffic updates
Available Q3 2006
more information
--------------------
Think I will be off to another product!! |

Have written to TomTom about this. As you say, it is completely unacceptable - a delay of a few weeks is OK but not 3 months.

I think this will be the point that makes me return my 910.
I am already very unhappy with several things
1: Much Longer Boot Time than TTOne (Due to Hard Drive I think)
2: Much Slower Sat Acuisition than TTOne
3: Very Poor Screen Compared to TTOne (Brightness and Reflections)
1&2 are deal breakers for me as my day included dozens of short stops and the slow boot and relock after each stop are intollerable compared to the ONE!
I figure now I can fit the seamless US Map on a 2GB SD Card Along with the Basic UK Map, that will be the way to go for now.. SO Back to the Reliable Old One!!! |

Is it that slow to boot etc? My 910 boots in about 10secs and, after that, satellite acquisition is near instantaneous. I timed it sitting on my desk at home - is the time of acquisition much slower if you start moving?

Hi Guys.
I have to say I have no trouble with start up times or sat lock.
I have timed it and mine takes 8 seconds before I see the map then between 10 & 20 seconds to get a lock.
So I can be on the move within 30 seconds of switching it on. :D
Considering I used to run a Navman 520. On a good day I'd get a lock in 2-3 minutes on a bad day I'd have to give up waiting and move off so wouldn't get a lock at all.
So all in all I'm well chuffed.
CeeJay. |
